By the way, saying your a sinner and demanding God be gracious doesn't work when you choose to be a sinner. Just a heads up.

I don't know if you were on my ignore list before... but you are now.

Good bye.

God be gracious to me a sinner.

This thread, which started off so well. Thanks OrthodoxyUSA for that., has turned sour cause of one more conspiracy theorist.

I agree, the Church never became catholic.

Oh, I'm sure you disagree, you want christian forums to bow down to catholics. Well I don't. This is a Christian forum and I am entitled as much as anyone else to speak the truth that Christians are Christians, not forced to be catholics.

Do you even understand what the word catholic means?

Re-read the Nicene Creed perchance and look up the word.

It does not mean simply "Rome"

But if you want to preach more hate, well....I can take that up with the admin team.

κατά ὅλος

The English version of scripture shows it as "throughout all".

Act 9:31

Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

From the Orthodox Study Bible:
This is the first mention in the Book of Acts of churches in the plural, showing that the Church is not invisible, but consists of visable local communities united in faith, doctrine, worship and authority.

"Kata holos" is also found in Luke 4:14; Luke 23:5; Acts 9:42; Acts 10:37

God be gracious to me a sinner.

The interesting part is how the term shifted over the years by us as the Church with the Schisms and then the Reformation from a term that meant throughout all, or to use the more traditional phrase, universal to meaning either Rome and it's church or a practise of sacramental Christian worship.

Correct. When the word itself was changed to a proper noun and used to identify a group of worshipers at the exclusion of others.

Orthodox has also been used in this fashion to identify those early Apostolic Churches who disagreed with Rome on particular theological points.

God be gracious to me a sinner.
