  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How many have actually read The Great Controversy or The Desire of Ages...

the Law of Moses

The law of Moses in not the moral law. The law of Moses is the first, five books of the OT. It includes many laws....

Try to keep your laws straight.....

I am speaking of the moral law! Understand?

Romans 3:9 What shall we conclude then? Are we (Jews) any better ? Not at all! We have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under sin. 10 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; .... 19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world (not just the Jew) maybe be guilty before God.

What's the law that condemns the sinner?

The moral law.....

IF God did away with the law, then what of folks born now? There's nothing to condemn them and so they don't need Christ. Christ came to redeem us from the curse of the law, not by doing away with the law, but by doing away with our humanity under the curse. Christ came to fulfill the law.

What you are presenting is a perversion at best. It's heresy. If you do away with the moral law, then you do away with one's need of Christ.

Go back to Sunday School, dust off your Bible, and try reading it.... Really...seriously.:doh::doh::doh::doh:

Christ's clear teaching on the law:

Matt 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Have heaven & earth disappeared? Apparently not, because you are posting....;)

Then God's law, the moral law from Sinai, remains. It condemns the sinner. If the sinner accepts Christ then he goes from condemnation to justification. In Christ the sinner stands before God's law perfect in obedience and justice.

If you have Christ you have been delivered from under law....If you reject Christ, the law will curse you in the end. You will die the 2nd death, the curse of the law.

Who are you kidding?

Sure it does, since one must commentate - rightly [Isaiah 8:20, etc].A for example of Chiastic writing...

This paragraph is extremely important because of what it clearly states. Also the inherent structure of the text itself is written Chiastically, so that it cannot be broken, nor tampered with. Please take careful notice of the colors and phrases which will help to illustrate this fact. Ellen G White was a prophet/messenger of the Lord, and so like those prophets/messengers before her, she sometimes writes Chiastically as they did. See the following break down:

[0A] “... The experience of the disciples who ...”
“... [II] preached the ...”
“... [III] “gospel of the kingdom” at ...”
“... [IV] the first advent of Christ ...”

“... has its counterpart in ...”

[0B] “... the experience of those who ...”
“... [II] proclaimed ...”
“... [III] the message of ...”
“... [IV] his second advent.”

[1A] “As the disciples went out preaching ...”
[1B] “The message given by ...”

[2A] “... Miller and his associates...”
[2B] “... Miller and his associates...”

[3A] “... proclaimed...”
[3B] “... announced ...”

[4A] “... the … prophetic period ...”
[4B] “... of the... days ...”

[5A] “... longest and last ...”
[5B] “... 2300 ...”

[6A] “... brought to view in the Bible ...”
[6B] “... of Daniel 8:14, ...”

[7A] “... was about to expire ...”
[7B] “... termination ...”

[8A] “... “The time is fulfilled, [II] the kingdom of God [III] is at hand,” ...”
[8B] “... that the Judgment [III] was at hand, and [II] the everlasting kingdom was to be ushered in. ...”

[9A] “... The preaching of the disciples in regard to time was based on the seventy weeks of Daniel 9. ...”
[9B] “... of which the seventy weeks form a part. ...”

Please take notice, especially of the last part, as it clearly links the two messages, etc., together.

[10] “... The preaching of each ...” [This “each” refers to the “portion” of the 2300 days in which the:

Disciples preached a “portion” of the “2300” prophecy in their day [AD 27 - AD 34] which was the Last week [70th Week] of the 70 weeks of Daniel 9; and

[II] the Millerites and his associates preached in their day [AD 1834 – AD 1843/44] the last “portion” of the “2300” prophecy, namely in the 1260, 1290 and especially the 1335 ending which came to its end in AD 1843/44], since each:

“... was based upon the fulfillment of a different portion of the same [2300 days, “the longest and last”, Scripturally, Contextually, Historically and Chiastically] great prophetic period.”; Daniel 8:14 and Daniel 9 being intimately connected.
“...Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.” 2 Chronicles 20:20

lol I have the same verses in my bible. The verses still does not teach that the Christian is under the Law. The Christian has already been judged by the Law which resulted in the Christian's faith in Christ. The Law remains only to bring the unbelievers to Christ as THE SAME AUTHOR of this boo explains in Gal. 3. Secondly, don't you know what Paul's argument is about? If Paul was teaching that the Law is necessary for salvation why would he state the following in the very next chapter:

4 Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. 5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, 6 just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: 7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven,
And whose sins have been covered.
8 “Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account.”

Do you know who are those whose LAWLESS deeds have been forgiven? How about the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account?

Why would Paul, the SAME AUTHOR of Romans, state in 1 Cor. 9:

20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews; to those who are under [h]the Law, as under [i]the Law though not being myself under [j]the Law, so that I might win those who are under [k]the Law;

How about the verses that I posted in my previous two posts? Can you address those too? Would you like me to post them again?

Eph. 2...by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances...
Questions:

[1] Does the text read, "Law of commandments" or "Law of commandments contained in ordinances"?

[2] What are these "Law of Commandments contained in ordinances"?

[3] The Scripture clearly states, "by abolishing in His flesh...", then this is referencing something that is "carnal", as it deals with "flesh". Are the Ten Commandments "carnal" or "spiritual"? Are the laws of sacrifice, in their ordinances, carnal or spiritual?

[4] The death of Jesus Christ was the antitype to what, the Law of God - the Ten Commandments, or to the sacrificial lamb?

[5] According to the Bible, what did the Gentiles, like the Egyptians, hate about the Hebrews in Exodus 8:26 and think was an "abomination", and therefore put enmity between them?

[6] Where was "the enmity" of the "Law of commandments contained in ordinances" abolished?

[7] Who is the "one new man" that the "both" are to be "in"?

Remember that she believed in the theology of Arius.
Not so. If any desire I will present the facts with cited sources clearly detailing the matter.

Proverbs 28:9 "He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination."

Do you know what the law says?

You are a sinner....You must die!!!!

But you can reject that...even pray to God, but your prayer will not make it past the ceiling. Why? Your prayer is self-righteous because you are refusing to hear what the law is telling you and this is that you are a sinner.

Only sinners need Christ. The self-righteous, refuse to see the law....And hence they refuse Christ.

Like this?
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:4
Is the Law of God - The Ten Commandments, carnal or spiritual?

Are these prophecies about Jesus Christ?
The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable. Isaiah 42:21

And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Isaiah 8:14

You are so judgmental. :D

Rom. 5
6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man; [d]though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified [e]by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved [f]by His life. 11 And not only this, [g]but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

Psst: Proverbs 28:9 was written to the Jews while the Law was still in effect FOR THE JEWS. ;)

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:4

Before you present the law as a standard for Christians living under grace (see Romans 13:8-14), you must first show how Christ fulfilled it and by so doing saved us from under law to under grace.

The believer isn't under law! He has been delivered from under it. Why? Because no one is keeping the law has Christ did. Therefore if you present the law as a standard before you present Christ as a fulfillment of the law, then legalism tends to slip in.

The remaining role of the Law:

Gal. 3
19 Why the Law then? It was added [ac]because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the [ad]agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made. 20 Now a mediator is not [ae]for one party only; whereas God is only one. 21 Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God? May it never be! For if a law had been given which was able to impart life, then righteousness [af]would indeed have been [ag]based on law. 22 But the Scripture has shut up [ah]everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
23 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. 24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a [ai]tutor. 26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is [aj]neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you [ak]belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s [al]descendants, heirs according to promise.

How so? By giving you truth????

You are not giving me the truth but judging me based on your works salvation theology.

Why did you accept Christ?

He accepted me way before I accepted Him and He showed me that I needed a savior.

Wasn't it to go from under law to under grace?

The Law is the opposite of grace. Grace is the gift of God. All Christians are under grace not under the Law.
