  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Repeating this worn-out straw man doesn't garner sympathy. You need to show that the former shadow was resurrected with the old covenant it was part of before it could be changed. Existence is a prerequisite to change.
I agree, instead of proving the Sabbath was for Christians they try and go in the back door equating Sunday "observance" is the Sabbath then they say it is wrong because it is not Saturday. I see no biblical reference to Sunday being akin to the Sabbath to begin with such that you could play leapfrog over it to get back to Saturday.
The leap frog jumping was getting from Sabbath to Sunday don't you think?

A monster leap from the end of the week to the front of it!
Gibs,
You are not responding the content shown to you. You're merely repeating the fallacy two of us have pointed out without satisfying the prerequisite demanded.

You haven't proven Christians as a whole treat Sunday as the Sabbath when compared to the Sabbath they aren't "keeping" Sunday to begin with. The very very tiny amount of "Sunday Sabbath Keepers" do not represent Christianity as a whole so therefore are not an example that is useful to any logical argument presented regarding "Sunday Sabbaths".

It is a neverending effort to spam the forum instead of debate. Personally I am glad they are here doing this it only shows how utterly dismal their argument is for Christians to keep the Sabbath to begin with when they refuse to defend themselves. I've seen continually evasiveness regarding direct debating here such that IMO it seems more like promotion than debating.

You may be right there to a certain extent as most I know do what they want on the Sunday, work, or play and etc.

For it to be applicable in a debate Sunday "Sabbath keeping" must approach something beyond Christians gathering together on a day, and taking a day off from work. In society today most folks work only 5 days a week such that they have two days off from work to begin with so going to church on a day off from work isn't automatically a "Sabbath" day. One has to show preparation prior to the day and abstaining beyond a level of playing hooky from work or anything approaching work.

For me, I choose to keep the seventh day as the LORD has set out for man.

I find it to be one of God's perpetual time clocks running from all eternity past into all eternity future, recurring seven solar day cycles, never has and never will be broken.

Seems to me it starts with the first day toward the Sabbath.

True, but the hinge is after the seven back again to commence a new cycle.

You see that Seventh you rest, as He showed us and then you gets up and commences again in recurring cycles

And I celebrate victory on Sunday which you say is sin and worshipping false gods or false (illegal and sin) worship of God.

God gives us freedom, the choice is of our own choosing, with Him a credit or a deficit. We know and trust that He is a righteous and just Judge.

From everything I've read all we have to is love God more than anything else and here's some verses on how we do it, it's not about law.

Matthew chapter 25 verses 31-46
When the Son of Man comes" in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. he will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the King will say to those on his right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and got visit you? The King will reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.They also will answer, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you? He will reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me. Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.

One does if the law of love is in his heart. The law is fulfilled only by the service of love.

Take note of the difference of the righteous and the unrighteous.
Ro 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Ro 2:13 For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

If the Sabbath is required for salvation, it not free choice.

Ah yes it is, the choice to obey or not to obey. First Satan chose not to obey and then in his craftiness goaded Adam and Eve to not obey.

It is good to obey the Lord who is Love, and Good above all and what He asks of us is Good and He knows better than we what is best for us.

He knows each of us better than we know ourselves!

Now you love the law and I love the promises of the New Covenant which give eternal life not offered in your preferred covenant of failure called the ministration of death. So I'm righteous by the blood of Jesus and you're righteous by the law the same way the Pharisees were righteous. One of these qualify one for eternal life and the other doesn't. Yes the enemy of my soul is jealous and angry over God's love for me. Jesus said your righteousness must exceed that of the Pharisees. Does yours? You can't get if from the law which has no jurisdiction over the Christian.

His law of love is in my heart written there. Now it is the service of love to Him above all and my fellow man as myself and so it is true I find that love fulfills the law.

Love does no wrong in any way to any, God or man. It is my pleasure now, my desire and love to do His will. We all do what we love to do and some still do what they have always done in sin.

I am positively under the new covenant with far better promises.

Heb 10:1 ¶ For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Heb 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

Those laws were a shadow of and a pointing to the true sacrifice.

To reject the Sabbath (the law) isn't rejecting salvation.

Is it God's will for us to obey His only begotten beloved Son or is it to that plus the law which He didn't teach?
