  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wow. I didn't realize the extent of the derangement. I think we have a clinical emergency on our hands.

Was there ever any question?
No, but I was holding out hope. Now that I can rest assured I gave someone the benefit of the doubt, it's time for Plan B: ridicule.

Congrats! You've just sunk to the level of a 3 year-old.

Actually, the world is, overall, better for humans than any previous time in history on pretty much every metric.

Yeah.

What is it with people whining about what a terrible world we live in? I think it's an amazing world and I have great hope for the planet and the people of the planet. Aren't Christians supposed to be positive and not whiners?

Christians are here to lead others to Christ. But some people choose to ignore that part and want to focus on what's nice and rosy. Read the bible and you'll see that things aren't quite as rosy as you may think, and won't be getting any better, unless you think that the antichrist giving you exactly what you want when you want it is a positive thing, until the whole lake of fire thing. But at least it'll be warm! I guess you could focus on that part.

Christians are here to lead others to Christ. But some people choose to ignore that part and want to focus on what's good and rosy. Read the bible and you'll see that things aren't quite a rosy as you may think, and won't be getting any better, unless you think that the antichrist giving you exactly what you want when you want it is a positive thing, until the whole lake of fire thing. Yes, I've never read the Bible of course.

The threats of the pending antichrist - which have been going on for as long as Bibles were printed for all to read - doesn't terrify me, because the Bible tells me not to be afraid. :)

Psalm 23:4
2 Tim 1:7
Psalm 27:1
Psalm 118:6

... you get the picture.

Also, I live in the south, so I'm plenty warm enough already.

Christians are here to lead others to Christ.

And in so many cases, it turns into "the blind leading the blind."

But some people choose to ignore that part and want to focus on what's nice and rosy.

Yeah, imagine all those people who choose to look on the world with joy -- makes you wonder what their problem is, doesn't it? ^_^

Read the bible and you'll see that things aren't quite as rosy as you may think, and won't be getting any better, unless you think that the antichrist giving you exactly what you want when you want it is a positive thing, until the whole lake of fire thing.

Or.... we reject all the fearmongering claptrap about the "antiChrist" and choose to accentuate the positive.

The alternative? Being miserable in advance over the things that might happen...

But at least it'll be warm! I guess you could focus on that part.

Dunno where you are, but it's warm here now -- personally, I prefer air conditioning.

Are you sure you didn't make the atheist look foolish because you subconsciously understand that the atheist IS foolish? After all, Psalm 14:1 says, "The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds".

Curious that you employ a Star Trek symbol in your avatar, considering that Star Trek was created by an atheist and had many atheistic (sometimes even anti-religious) undertones. What sort of abominable deeds did Gene Roddenberry commit, and why are you celebrating someone so corrupt as you say he is?

Who said I'm celebrating Gene Roddenberry? I enjoy Star Trek. Something else for you guys to have a problem with.

I don't have a problem with it at all; I love Star Trek. My wife has a Star Trek tattoo, and loves it even more than I do. But it is the product of a staunch atheist, the sort of person you say is a corrupt fool who commits abominable acts. So I'm just curious as to why, if atheists are as bad as the Bible says they are, you would support them or anything they do.

That's what happens when our freedom and values are handed over to the government for enforcement. Just another example why smaller and less intrusive government is better. Under the current regime, that will never be possible.

I'm interested in how a smaller, less intrusive government would go about enforcing a moral law that would require invading the bedroom of two consenting adults. Can you clear that up?

That's easy: a smaller, less intrusive government would not get involved when the righteous get together for a little fornicator stoning.

But would they if the "righteous" don't win the fight?

Who cares, let these sinners deal with our Father when they see him in the afterlife.
So is it "who cares" or is it "we are here to lead people to Christ"? It can't be both.

We live the right way.

Beats me! I never made that claim. I wasn't implying that either. Can't clear it up since I never said it in the first place.

Ah, so you care about what the bible says enough to know what it says. So why not use it to know God?
