This argument doesn't hold, Since separation of church and state constitution. And some religious people seems to be grasping at straws to keep gays and lesbians from getting married. I wonder what's next on their list, to keep gays and lesbians from getting married. It seems like a waist of money.

Good thing none of those arguments hold water in a secular courtroom.

I think we just have different opinions over whether the world is going downhill or why

Whether things have gone downhill depends upon one's perspective.

The common perception, upon suddenly finding oneself surrounded by undesirables, is that one has inexplicably rolled downhill, when in fact others have struggled their way up.

I don't believe in God, but I am not afraid to tell off bad God concepts just as if they were real.

I am curious. What makes you think an increase in atheism will increase the likelihood of the world being destroyed? We are not the ones rubbing out hands together in anticipation of lurid end-times scenarios and last second rear-end-saving raptures, nor are we the ones suggesting that science is somehow in cahoots with evil forces in promoting climate change. For that you have to look to a very vocal minority of theists, I'm afraid.

By that definition, both falling behind and moving forward are "going downhill." The only way to avoid "going downhill" is for everyone and everything to stay the same even if that means determinedly preserving any injustices, inequalities and even impracticalities already in play. This leaves one with the perpetual sense, in the inevitable shuffling of advantage and disadvantage that is life, that we are straying from some indefinable ideal and that disaster is around the corner if things are not rapidly gotten in hand.

If things "going downhill" simply means, "I'm suddenly not on top anymore!" I'm not going to worry too much about that.

Interestingly, there is no law against love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
