  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

With which TV shows did you grow up with?

Seeing my childhood and teen years spanned basically from the late '70s, the entire '80s decade, and the early '90s, I can give a basic rundown of what was playing on TV at that time. Primetime was filled with comedies such as The Facts of Life, Diff'rent Strokes, Growing Pains, The Cosby Show, and Mr. Belvedere, as well as dramas such as Little House on the Prairie, The Young Riders, and Highway to Heaven. I also enjoyed a lot of the game shows: Press Your Luck (remember the whammies?), Card Sharks, and The $25,000 Pyramid. Saturday mornings consisted of The Smurfs, Shirt Tales, The Snorks, The Bugs Bunny Show, Tom and Jerry, and even an animated version of The Little Rascals. Before heading off to school on weekday mornings, there were a lot of older cartoons such as Underdog, Bullwinkle, and The Flintstones. Daytime programming (during summer vacation, holidays, schoolbreaks, and sick days) was a variety of syndicated programming, including syndicated reruns of The Brady Bunch, I Dream of Jeannie, the old Our Gang comedies and such, The Price Is Right (when Bob Barker was the host and before he had white hair!), and occasionally the Schoolbreak Specials. The TV programming was basically good with a few exceptions, in contrast with now when it's pretty much the other way around.

I don't know... with a few exceptions, TV just isn't the same anymore.

As much as I like to consider myself a 90s kid, I stretch into the "early 2000's kid" category too lol.

Arthur was like, my show when I was little. I watched it every single day after school hahaha.

I also really liked
The Powerpuff Girls
Loony Toons
Spongebob
Johnny Bravo
Dexter's Lab
Hey Arnold!
Even Stevens
Lizzie McGuire
The Amanda Show

And other stuff.

I clearly remember:

Airwolf,

The A-Team,

MacGyver,

Magnum, P.I.

The Golden Girls and

Murder She Wrote ( yeah you gotta believe me when I say I only watched this one with my mom! )
Of course there were many others like Boy Meets World etc etc but these top ones were the best in my book!:)

I was a great animal lover when I was a kid, so I went looking for entertainment that incorporated animals, and do you know what I came upon? Pokémon and Digimon, I remember watching both in my childhood and adoring all the monsters, there were like hundreds if not thousands to choose from, I was so thrilled with the wide variety. I guess I let my greed get the best of me, because I wanted ALL of the monsters! Just one would not do, I wanted all thousand of them!

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=digimon

When I played with Digimon I would pretend I was a tamer and my Digimon was Elecmon, my favorite Digimon. Sometimes I went with Phoenixmon, and when I pretended I was a Pokémon trainer I would always choose Raichu as my ace, backed up by Articuno -- I had so much fun.

Now I am an adult and I wonder where all the years have gone -- but I guess that is what happens when you are having so much fun, time goes by really fast.

I know what Carmen Sandiego is, my older sister used to watch that all the time when she was a kid (She's an adult now, man how the years flew by)...

I have some great memories of watching Star Trek TNG with my parents. They were both big fans. And sometimes I was bored but I remember how these people always worked together and ended up doing the right thing…I guess there is something to learn from that and maybe it wouldn’t be a bad thing if the future did look like Star Trek

Yes we know what star trek the next generation is. I think I grew up on that as well. We have seen all of the episodes how much of it have you seen?

bill nye the science guy
wishbone
sesame street
barney
puzzle place

parent's likes the simpsons and x files

I know what Barney is too. I watched that when I was 3 I think, but its been years since I've seen it because I am a grown-up now and I'm way too old for it. And bill Nye the science guy, as well as wishbone. I don't think we watched sesame street too much, my mom was always against it because she was a conservative Christian and she didn't like how worldly and secular (non-Christian) they were so we didn't get to watch much of them because she would never let us.

As a child of the 70s, I loved the Carol Burnette show, Happy Days, the Waltons, Laverne & Shirley, One Day at a Time, Welcome Back Kotter, Charlies Angels, the Love Boat and my absolute favorite - Eight is Enough

I'm in the USA and the Waltons are still running over here and my mom watches them every evening when she gets home from her work. She also likes to watch Duck Dynasty (if you've never heard of that show I am going to be surprised).

I grew up in the 90s, so I grew up watching VeggieTales, Pokemon, Rugrats, SpongeBob, CatDog, Dexter's Lab, Cow And Chicken, PB&J Otter, Blue's Clues, Little Bear, and more.

Ah, so you grew up on Pokémon too. I still have my Gameboy that I used to play Pokémon Red on when I was a kid, but as I've grown up I think I've gotten away from video games just a bit -- that is what happens when you mature some. Now I just like talking to people; that's entertainment enough for me.

Lets' see, channel 6 (Miami) used to bring on the reruns so I grew up with:
Sanford & Son
Carol Burnett
Wonder Woman:thumbsup:
6 Million Dollar Man
The Incredible Hulk
Spider Man, Super Friends (now JL), Bugs Bunny & friends, Yogi & friends, irritating Woody Woodpecker for cartoons
The old Superman who used to make people look up & yell 'What's that in the sky?' every time he made an entrance. It took a few months before I asked how they could 'look up in the sky' & how did he float down from the sky when they were inside their homes with no windows open?
Twilight Zone
The Little Rascals:thumbsup::thumbsup:^_^^_^
Ashamed to say the Benny Hill show:blush:
Charlies Angels
Quincy
Welcome Back Kotter
Praise the Lord on TBN
Hawaii 5 O
Magnum PI (Tom turned down the role of Indiana Jones to keep shooting this show!)
Oh, my goodness, the Muppets Show, Sesame Street, 3-2-1 Contact right up till my late 20's!
I forgot Dr.Who - the 4th Dr., I think:thumbsup: fourthdoctor.jpg
