• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes, if you take a book filled with bad science, self contradictions, poor morals, and failed prophecies as a false idol as being real evolution will disagree with that.

You're not qualified to make that judgement. You judge the Bible like the false witnesses who accused Christ at his trial. They got everything wrong, but were sure of themselves... they had an innocent man executed.

Genez, there are many biblical scholars/historians (and many of the Christian) who readily admit, the bible is full of contradictions, incorrect information, prophecy fulfillment that requires creative interpretation, bad science, etc. etc.

Aren't there more then ten contradictions that involve numerical values alone that are so direct and specific you can't interpret them in a way that isn't contradictory?

Sure I am. I can read. Your analogy is terrible. If you want to say that I cannot judge the Bible you are going to have to do a lot better than that.

Subduction... liberals and atheists have been finding alleged contradictions for years. Each time one is resolved they never learn. They never apologize either. Just had an atheist eat crow in another forum. He disappeared. And, he is a moderator. If you would learn from it and believe it might be worth the effort and energy it takes to resolve what you think you see. There are typos. But, there are also seeming contradictions, that once understood, fall by the wayside.

Alright... (sigh)...

That's your job to count them. Numbers are an easy typo for tired transcribers to make. And, they are not essential to one's salvation.

Look how many typos we make here, but still van understand what the intention was. I am shure you will agree.

Have you actually convinced yourself, that liberals and atheists are the only one's to find contradictions in the bible?

I have found what I thought were contradictions. Sure. Some deeply troubled me to see. But I trusted God and rested. Then over time, they were cleared up. Sometimes in most unexpected, surprising ways.

As for you? You see no way that they can be cleared up. That they have to be contradictions. You do not know God is real. God loves humbling the believer by opening his eyes to what was right before him, but was failing to see. Once shown, it now seems simple.

I never trust theists when they claim a win over an atheist without extremely strong evidence to back them up. Usually the theist is sadly mistaken.

And yes the Bible is full of failures. How do you feel about failed prophesies?

If you were living in 29AD... And you saw Jesus performing all those miracles? Would that be evidence? No.

There is no evidence for you. Its not in your heart.

We don't even know if Jesus performed any miracles. Those are highly dubious claims that are not well supported.

The subject was the whether we can trust the Bible as a source or not. It seems that you want to change the subject.

Should we uneducated commoners trust the writings of scientists?

(Just YES or NO please.)

Since you already trust the scientists and scientists have a far better record than theists the answer is yes. If you don't want to trust the scientists the first step you should follow is to break your computer.

Yes but on a provisional basis. No matter what any scientist says, it is always subject to revision with new data. The idea is that any scientific work is based on the best knowledge available at that time. It can and does changes when new evidence comes in.

That is the same for educated or uneducated individuals.
