• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You don't know they are God's words, you want to think they are (based on faith), but you have no objective evidence (no one does) to show they are God's words or he even inspired the book.

So, you choose to deny mountains of evidence that is verifiable through science, but you accept incredible claims (with no objective evidence to support) from a book written by unknown men, 2000 years ago?

I can only imagine, the turmoil that goes on inside one's head, to try and reconcile this thought process each and every day.

Except the first sentence, the rest are emotional remarks.
Yes, I did not know. But I can find it out with reasons and experiences.

How do you know there will be consequences?

If there were not, then do it over again until you see some consequences.

Pleas quit this. You can not outsmart me on science and logic. Give you some your out-of-box ideas and hard questions.

Yes, I did not know. But I can find it out with reasons and experiences.

The rest, are observations. A person accepts the bible without objective evidence to support it's claims and denies the objective evidence from science.

IMO, this does create turmoil in many and it is proven on these boards with the responses some make that have them in clear scramble mode from the cognitive dissonance they experience when presented with objective evidence that goes against their beliefs.

It is, what it is.

Not quite. The best questions are always the most simple, the one's that get right at the core.

If one can't answer the simple questions without evasion, contradiction or simply making stuff up, the hard questions don't matter.

Are you familiar with the description/definition of madness that runs 'madness is repeating the same action over and over again and expecting a different result'? And here you are advocating it as a route to religious enlightenment. Telling. Very telling.

Pleas quit this.
Yes, being asked to explain oneself is such an inconvenience isn't it.

You can not outsmart me on science and logic.
I would have thought a dead pigeon could outsmart you on science and logic.

Give you some your out-of-box ideas and hard questions
I know, how about you show you can deal with the easier questions first.

You know what they say about assumptions, maybe the real test is to see who can become self sufficient enough to forge their own path rather than have god as a crutch their whole lives, determining the difference between those who are blinded by faith and those who are willing to see the world as it is.

These are all things God is capable of doing with no effort on his part. Why angels?

How is fellowship integral to that?

I do not know, I do not know why God created everything, it is beyond me and for good reason too. I am a created being so I can not understand everything that the Creator does.

Let's say you created a puppy. Wouldn't you want to enjoy your time with it and play with is and teach it new things? And the puppy would love you and stay loyal to you. That's fellowship, where love is shared, were joy is found, where peace abides, and trust abounds!!

Yes I know they are God's Words! The way God worked with people in ancient times and around Jesus' time is NOT the same as today.

There is evidence, I am Learning for the moment what it is. (There are free courses online offered on such subjects as these)

Science can't go past a certian point and we all know that. It is a baby.
How can science prove that God lives in Heaven and is omnipotent??? It can't.

There are no turmoils concerning the reliability of the Bible in my head.

Turn this around and how much will you actually know of the Bible if I asked you questions? I'm talking about what's written in it. Will you know it as well as science?

Let me ask you a question.

Since you deny the evidence provided by science in favor of the bible, what is it about science that cause you to reject their findings?

Probably that it doesn't match up with the bible.

Questions left unanswered by anya:

If Jesus was born in 5 or 6 ad, how was he born during the reign of king herod? Herod died in 4 bc.

If not one jot or tittle will pass away, why has goliath's height changed?

In the dead sea scrolls, and other early manuscripts, goliath was not 6+ cubits tall, he was only 4+ cubits tall.

No we aren't. Please do pay attention. I asked you how its logical for nothing to be impossible for god, when lying is clearly not nothing, and is impossible for god.

Omni means ALL. It's kind of the point. Why do you get to exclude anything from OMNI?

Of course there are many objective evidences to support what the Bible says. A LOT !

How do you know there will be consequences?

Because things happened and is related to the definition. You may not want to call them consequences. But that is what they are. (Do you want to define "consequence"?)

This is the same as saying that you do not understand the answer. Bad excuse.

Messy thought.
