if He can't help me get over my depression or with my problems, then I'm done...

The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.
You've gotta also work towards it instead of sitting around waiting for a divine intervention. It can come through just about anything.
why do think abandoning God will help you get out of depression? Are you sure it won't make your depression even worse?
I HAVE been trying on my own to no avail

Even when we are "done" with him, he ISN'T done with us.
I'm praying for you.
If you want to talk please don't hesitate to contact me.
God Bless you,

Have you tried medication for your depression? Depression can run in a family and be beyond your control. It is on my "fathers" side of the family. I fought it for years and my doctor helped me find the right medication, and also taught me that it was beyond my control. Chemical shortages in the brain can make life so troublesome.
It takes time and chances are you might have this for the rest of your life. It's learning how to handle it.
On the other hand, it can also help. I've known many people who left religion all together got a lot better and recovered from their mental illnesses.
My heart is heavy for you,
Ive also suffered from depression...
I remember being in the shower crying to God.. almost psychotically.
I got put in a mental hospital, I mean it was BAD..
I had depression because of my anxiety.
But you know what, Leaving GOD..
Would be TERRIBLE.
You know in your hear it would be..
God is there with you, even when you cant see it.
Had I not gone through that, I wouldn't be who I am today.
i am thankful to God for it now.
It shaped me, It molded me.
that's true, and sorry about earlier
Dear, He can help you get over these problems. He doesn't always do so when you tell Him to, though. Something I've learned over the past few years is that God has His own schedule, and I didn't write it. Sometimes He puts me through a sort of obedience or humility training, leaving me frustrated because He wants me to learn something through that pain. He always comes through in the end, though, and brings me out of the pit of despair. And I'm usually a stronger, happier, and more faithful person when the son comes out from behind the clouds!if He can't help me get over my depression or with my problems, then I'm done...![]()

Don't apologize. It's okay.
Without death being an option, what do you think would help you with recovery? Are your meds helping you? Do you take them daily?

I left God for a while, but I've come to realise that he never left me.
It's not a good idea to make important decisions whilst you are feeling very low... depression affects our thinking a lot. Try to just get through the next hour, then the next... pray if you can, but if you can't there are a lot of people praying for you![]()
