• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I told you that there is nothing in the Bible that says creation was 6,000 years ago.

Are you kidding?

Please Google "Young Earth Creationists". Plenty of people with tons of "evidence".

As a matter of fact, exactly the same type of "evidence" you use to "prove" god's existence.

So are you claiming to be supernatural?

Yes. And I know for a fact that I am, because I was there.

You were not there, so any objection you think you have is pure speculation.

I didn't claim it didn't. We don't know how much time was in each day do we?

Of course we do. There were/are approximately 24 hours in a day.

The forces needed to suddenly accelerate or decelerate the earth's rotation by any significant amount would probably tear the planet apart.

It is in the realm of the creationist who proposed that Australia caught a wave after the flood, and surfed to it's current location, thus explaining how animals endemic to Australia reached the continent. Apparently they got on board before she set sail.

Time existed prior to the earth's formation. We are looking at the entire universe and God's time. God is outside of time.

What does "outside of time" mean? Is it like "outside of width"? Where is "outside"?

Do you actually think you have a coherent grasp on what time really is?
Enough to ask a question that, I predict, Oncedeceived and yourself will have to ignore and attempt to sweep under the rug.

Let's see how my prediction pans out.

Outside of time is not effected by time.....eternal. No beginning or end.

Like I said, hard to conceive of. Watching Doctor Who could help maybe.

Or simply non-existent.

An attempt to sweep it under the rug using a reference to a fictional TV series.

Or do you think Doctor Who is for real? ^_^^_^^_^^_^

A lot of the scientific concepts used on the show are real.

Just attempting to help explain is all.

Name a few of these concepts from Doctor Who that would apply to Oncedeceived's god-is-outside-of-time comment, and that are actually real, and not just scientific-sounding terms.

Like I said, it's a tough one.

Time - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Time is not an empirical concept. For neither co-existence nor succession would be perceived by us, if the representation of time did not exist as a foundation a priori. Without this presupposition we could not represent to ourselves that things exist together at one and the same time, or at different times, that is, contemporaneously, or in succession."

Immanuel Kant, Critique of Pure Reason (1781), trans. Vasilis Politis (London: Dent., 1991), p.54.

I see that Oncedeceived has chosen to sit this one out.

And when the tough get going, the going gets tougher. More sweeping, I see.

Seriously? "Time is not an empirical concept"? Do you or anyone you know have a GPS navigation device? You do know that the clocks in the satellites have to precisely compensate for the relativistic speeds at which they travel? What would an 18th century philosopher know of that?

Try again: Name a few of these concepts from Doctor Who that would apply to Oncedeceived's god-is-outside-of-time comment, and that are actually real, and not just scientific-sounding terms.

Time travel. Specifically special and general relativity.

Time was created with the universe. Nothing existed time, space, energy and matter came into existence when the universe did. If God created the universe as we claim then He would obviously be outside of the creation, outside of time.
