  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

3) Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain;

4) Remember to keep holy the sabbath day ;

5) Honour thy father and mother

6) Thou shalt not kill.

7) Thou shalt not commit adultery.

8) Thou shalt not steal.

9) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

10) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's (goods)

I just love the kjv version of the ten commandments. Even many non-Christians know them, but at least that they start with thou shalt not ;)
A colleague of mine is an atheist, and he found one of my English bibles (new American standard version) and found the ten commandments printed on the first page of the book, and he was really irritated and even a bit disappointed to not find the familiar thou shalt not. (side note: we're all non native-speakers of English.) ;-) :-D

My turn:
What was the name of Abraham's second wife?

He talks last to John the beloved and blessed Mary, his mother, and says, "see your mother, see your son." bible quote later.
But standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. (John 19:25-27, ESVUK)
Yeah, me neither. When I asked the question about Abraham's nephew's name in this thread (Post #74), prov1810 gave me reps with the comment that Keturah was Abraham's second wife. ;) :D

My Question:
Where was the prophet Ezechiel when he had his first vision?

I thought it was this,
Acts 1:7-8

New International Version (NIV)

7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

spoken before he ascended into heaven.

Correct. Your turn

And yes, you're right, I somehow have interpreted your question wrongly. Forgot about the time after his resurrection and that he has appeared and talked to the disciples as well.
Although another answer could be possible:
Luke 24:44-49

44[bless and do not curse]Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45[bless and do not curse]Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46[bless and do not curse]and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47[bless and do not curse]and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48[bless and do not curse]You are witnesses of these things. 49[bless and do not curse]And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” (esv)
