  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wait until the events of the Tribulation start to occur!

This isn't the tribulation, though we are talking about. You have explicitly linked the death of people whom you HAVE NOT SHOWN THEIR DIRECT RELATION TO THE EVENTS SUPPOSEDLY TRIGGERING THE PUNISHMENT.

Your theology is broken. Or you worship a very different type of God.

Then you'll really have something to ook at!

(Unless, hopefully, you're not here.)

I'll be here until the end of my days. At which point I will die. And generations will pass beyond me.

And people will read about the desire for the destruction from God that the Pious preached non-stop. whether it's PUNISHMENT for someone's wrong doing or general tipping the game board over so EVERYONE gets it.

And they'll wonder if this is the same religion that spawned the bumperstickers saying "God is Love".

I think the God of christianity's middle name is; CONTRADICTION

Your attitude reminds me of this passage ...

Revelation 16:10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,
Revelation 16:11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.

Hmm, so why would someone "blaspheme" the name of the God who punishes countless thousands of innocent victims for the actions of someone somewhere else on the earth?

I can't imagine why they wouldn't immediately fall on their knees and worship this being and pour out words of love and undying fealty!

If I were in a locked room with a madman with a gun I'd do the same thing.

Only problem is: this doesn't even seem to comport with a RATIONAL, worship-worthy God.

If God's only desire is to get people to tell him they love him at the point of a gun then I'm not entirely certain that He's aiming correctly.

(Again, sounds like waaaay broken theology to me. Thankfully I personally know almost no Christians who hold this strange theology.)

Here are some facts -- you decide:
  • 30 October 1991: The Halloween Monster, a.k.a. The Perfect Storm, strikes the U.S. amid the "land-for-peace" Madrid peace talks; President Bush's ocean-side home destroyed.
  • 23 August 1992: President Bush moves Madrid talks to U.S. soil; that very day, Hurricane Andrew devastates southern Florida.
  • 16 January 1994: President Clinton meets with Syrian President Hafez Assad to discuss more "land for peace" arrangements; less than 24 hours later, a 6.9 earthquake pulverized southern California.
  • 1 September 1993: President Clinton announces a meeting with Arafat for the Oslo peace accords, to be held on 13 September; after a week of meandering in the Atlantic Ocean, Hurricane Emily hits North Carolina on that very day.
  • 21 January 1998: while waiting to meet with Arafat at the White House, President Clinton's sex scandal breaks out.
  • 27 September 1998: Arafat is meeting with the president in Washington; Hurricane Georges hits Alabama and stalls. The hurricane stalls until Arafat leaves and then it dissipates. Parts of Alabama declared a disaster area.
  • 17 October 1998: Arafat comes to the Wye Plantation meeting; incredible rains fall on Texas, which cause record flooding. Parts of Texas declared a disaster area.
  • 3 September 1999: Secretary of State Albright meets with Arafat in Israel; Hurricane Dennis comes ashore on this very day after weeks of changing course in the Atlantic Ocean.
  • 12-26 July 2000: Arafat at the Camp David meetings. Powerful droughts throughout the country. Forest fires explode in West into uncontrollable fires. By the end of August, 7 million acres are burnt.
  • 9 November 2000, two days after the presidential election: Arafat meets with President Clinton at the White House to try and salvage the peace process; worst election crisis in over 100 years occurs.

A 9+ year connect the dots?

No wonder you are so good at arriving at your conclusions, as if they are legitimate...

What's a "Tribulation?"
The Tribulation is the judgment that ends the dispensation of Grace.

It is a seven-year period of events that starts at the Rapture and ends at Armageddon.

Those sound like awesome names, for an awesome pub crawl.

I'm in!

When do we start?!

Well, it was supposed to start in 500 CE.

Unfortunately, something... came up.

Recently, it was supposed to start January 20, 2009, then May 21st, 2011, then October 21st, 2011, then June 26th, 2013.

Currently, we're waiting to hear from the creator of the event.

(Personally, I just live my life as if it's gonna happen tomorrow. Or never. Kinda either...)

Having fun with your newly-learned doctrine, are you?

God doesn't x paragrabs with the weather.

(You are familiar with Edgar Allan Poe's, X-ing a Paragrab, aren't you?)

Oh, so God only punishes other people's sins with disasters, not yours? Or are you saying you don't sin?

Have you read X-ing a Paragrab, by Edgar Allan Poe?

It answers your problem quite well.

It shouldn't require me to read anything. It's quite a simple question, I don't understand why you don't want to answer. If other people's sins get punished with disasters, why don't yours do too?

When we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

1 Corinthians 11:27-32 (NKJV)
Examine Yourself

27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

There are people that believe we are able to live free from sin. Their big question is always what sin is God not able to deliver and set us free from.

What is, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
