The wired visually to me always bothered me. It makes men sound like they are horndogs constantly on the prowl, and then justify it by saying its natural.

For me how they make it sound is worse than that. They aren't even horn dogs on the prowl.Faithful well meaning average devoted husbands are visually presented (accosted) with images of other women which hijacks their brain (visually) and they are in a constant battle to resist the subsequent urge to have sex with the "image".So they need a "wife" to give them the "sexual release" they need from the "pressure' they got from the image to help make it less tempting and less likely they will get the sexual release with every women they see.It really seems to me the message is the wife is the distraction not the other way around.A wife is a distraction to lure him away from every other woman on earth and a place for him to safely get the physical sexual release he needs to "help him" not "fall" due to the imagery and prevents him from getting sexual "release" by every and all women who they get a look at and like. Now how often he needs "release' by the wife I guess depends on how many images of strange women he encounters a day that hijacks his brain.(by nature).

They aren't on the prowl. They are being kidnapped.Because they are "visual".To hear some tell it "men" are more like 3 year olds being lured into a car by a stranger waving an ice cream cone around than they are grown men who are doing exactly what they want .

If you look at the above its basically the definition of lust.

Yes it is! But instead of falling under the take every thought captive to Christ instruction some propose its just natural "for men " like eating food God approved .And to hold that thought and take it to a wife for physical release thus satisfying that lustful thought. So she in that sense in a strange and I don't think right way is an outlet to be a surrogate for him to satisfy his lust for any woman he sees.Like a garbage bin for all his lustful images that aroused him to lust.

Thankfully I am married to a man that doesn't view me as a receptacle to relieve his sexual tension from "images" (lustful thoughts for other women) that he dumps on .And its sad that men and women are being taught that is "just how men are" in articles such as this. And its insulting to the majority of men that are no such thing and hurtful to try and make women think that is their place to "aid" the man.

There is some truth to some parts of it, but it does feel sort of demeaning reading it, like listening to the commentary about an animal on one of those wild life shows. It feels like reading an article on how to take care of a horse.

Yes.Or more like a mechanical bull.Maybe that is why they had to be sure to remind the women that men need to eat food?

If you can cope with a little language, look up honey badger on youtube. I've never laughed so hard!

Well that's because you are a "man" that's how men are .Nobody would expect a "man" to know how to use a water pitcher boiler thingy even after he built it.Its the women that are naturally inclined to know how to use it to feed you.Until the thingy breaks then you can fix it..see?:)

Gosh I wish I had the "luxury" of sitting down with the author to ask him or her a few questions about "understanding men".She or he left a LOT out.The details.

I mean now we know they need food and like to have sex and they have feelings.I have a lot of questions.Like do they need to cut their fingernails? And I know it said they don't like being publically embarrassed but how about privately berated?Should I put a diaper on him or does he use a litter box? GOSH so many questions....

I told my husband about this aritcle. He said "it was probably written by a woman being a smart a** and besides she forgot men need a t.v and some gas powered lawn tools" other wise they emasculated.

I love this, lol.

I was shaking my head on the first page of the article, and laughing by the end. A big WHATEVER to the author! Talk about twisting truth to suit your own agenda.

I thought the article overall was a bit too generalized and compartmentalized. For example it came off (to me) as "men are this way so wives need to do this to 'fix it'". First, not all men are 'such-and-such' a way, and wives don't need to fix us. I thought the part on sex was a bit humorous and pathetic at the same time. Sure, men are sexual creatures (as if women are not...?), but to state that:

is just wrong in my estimation and is really the part where I started to get upset with the whole thing. First, men need to be men and admit that, temptation or not, they can control whatever 'urges' they may feel coming at them in the world. If they can't, they need to go to God and ASK for the power to overcome that temptation. The wife is not responsible to cater to their sexual drives so they can avoid temptation later. This is just nonsense.

I agree that men need grace from God to overcome sexual temptation. If a man has a 'dutiful wife' he can still sin in his heart between leaving for work and coming home, so that isn't a solution.

On the other hand, Paul does say 'to prevent fornication' to let every man have his own wife and to let every woman have her own husband. Husbands and wives rendering 'due benevolence' to one another and fasting with mutual consent can help keep a couple from being tempted to lack of self-control. So I think the advice there is Biblical to that extent.

I don't remember the exact words, but the part about not letting stuff between them shut down the sex life is good advice, too. It can create a cycle where the man gets more upset due to the lack of sex, and the woman shuts off sex more, and each responds by not giving the other what he or she needs.
