• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, I've been over to the Soteriology forum........

I've used the phrase "you have to have thick skin" before. I don't agree with that phrase any longer. Not everyone is made that way, yet everyone should have the right to ask questions and have conversations........ and the rules support just that thought. I'm starting to think Soteriology needs a sub-forum, strictly for Monergism vs Synergism. Let the combatants conk each other on the head in there.

You should suggest it! They created subforums for other types of debate before. I think its a good idea, and the would leave Soteriology open for other things!

I might have suggested it a few years ago, but I can't remember clearly. I'm getting old. :)

Just had to come back, some teen just posted some nonsense in GT. You're prophetic dude!

Now you wanna talk nasty, post in GT.

I don't post there at all.

It is ruled by Catholics and Eastern Orthodox.

Post your Protestant views there.

I dare you.

God Bless

TIll all are one.

Good luck with that one.

Several years ago I posted this in the Soteriology room:

I'm sorry folks, but this room has lost its meaning.

According to bible.org, the definition for "soteriology" is:

Soteriology: Salvation
By: Greg Herrick Th.M., Ph.D.

"The term “soteriology” comes from two Greek terms, namely, soter meaning “savior” or “deliverer” and logos meaning “word,” “matter,” or “thing.” In Christian systematic theology it is used to refer to the study of the biblical doctrine of salvation. It often includes such topics as the nature and extent of the atonement as well as the entire process of salvation, conceived as an eternal, divine plan designed to rescue lost and erring sinners and bring them back into eternal fellowship with God. Many regard it as the primary theme in Scripture with the glory of God as its goal."

http://www.bible.org/page.asp?page_id=730

I have seen that the shift has gone from what God has done for us, to, a focus on us.

The shift has gone from God's plan of salvation for mankind in Jesus Christ, to a debate on RT and God's sovereignty verses Arminian theology and mans free will and how he responds to it.

There is no soteriology here, I'm sorry.

The link is the first post in my thread, you guys should give it a read.

This was started in 2007.

Nothing changes but the date.

God Bless

Till all are one.

Reasoned argumentation, apologetics with a brother or friend for God's glory alone, I'm all for it ;) The digging, baiting, false accusation/misrepresentation, flaming, slander etc. is another issue.

Ah, pipe smoking, puff puff, being able to enjoy simple things in life, like smell or taste.

Capt Jack has me on ignore now. He flutters between Calvinist and Arminian beliefs and places himself in the middle (his own admission). Not a great place to argue from.

Hang on... was that MotherPrayer I just saw?

Take the step girl, take the step... (you know you want to :p).

Capt Jack is legion , for he is many !

Personally I find the Adventists and spiritualists to be much more volatile and problematic in GT than those two groups I often find myself agreeing with them against the Adventists and spiritualists and while I disagree with the Catholics and Orthodox I don't find myself siding with the Adventists and spiritualists against them.

What's a spiritualist? Is that like a lone-star Christian? If so, I agree. If not, I wanna know lol

Quite a lot of the posters I'd identify as spiritualists are lone wolfers, they over spiritualise Christian faith, there's a lot of variety in what I'd include, anything from fierce statements of water baptism being unscriptural to radical new allegorical interpretation of the whole testimony of Scripture

Yikes! Well:
2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
Kinda makes sense to me now.
