It's great that it's passed, but try not rub it in the face of those against on this site.
So it passed with a majority of only 225?
The Sexual Offences Act 1967, which decriminalised homosexuality, passed the Commons with a majority of only 212.
Those against the bill today will come to be seen in a similar light to those who opposed in 1967.
C'mon Hexa, even you can do better than that.[Hexa]Wonder if the first gay marrage will be in a Mosque under Shari wedding vows.
Personaly think theres bigger issues for the government to be sorting out then fast tracking this (what ever your views are on the matter).
Great news indeed. I heard some of the opposition was vociferous in its condemnation of this bill. I think it is probably worth mentioning that a lot of this opposition had more to do with redefining marriage, as opposed to rampant homophobia. At least that's what I would like to believe. I find it odd that people are so concerned about two consenting adults wanting to memorialise their love through the act of marriage.
Progress is always slow, but it comes and I applaud Cameron's bravery on this. He has a lot to lose and it seems a large constituent of Tory members will abandon ship over this. No doubt UKIP will welcome them with open arms. Having said that, I don't even know what their stance is on this issue?
I tend to be one of those who considers equality to always be a big issue. It doesn't matter when the PM tackled this. The "bigger issues" argument will forever be used. So let's make it now. Why not?
Great point.[Gadarene]Exactly.
When civil rights was kicking off in the US, the Cold War had nearly gone nuclear.
And these pansies today think a bit of austerity means we shouldn't be prioritising equal rights.

Yep, all the unelected people now get to rule on it![]()
Well I guess when a person is incapable of something, they sometimes believe everyone else is also incapable of it, to comfort themselves...
