They don't seek the approval of anyone in the church, so they won't be concerned whatever the church has to say on the matter. But the church should share their opinion respectfully.

Sorted.

Why do they or anyone for that matter seek approval from anyone or indeed anything?

Do what thy will shall be the whole of the law.

The church has shared its opinion respectfully. Others have shared theirs, too. But since this doesn't directly affect the church I'm wondering why its opinion should count for more than anyone else's?
Indeed

And they would be wrong, wouldn't they? The church cannot claim that we do not know God's will but at the same time say they are representing His will.

The church has expressed its opinion. God can speak for Himself if He so desires. So my question still stands - why should the church's opinion count for more than anyone else's?

As God created us he has the right to determine what is right and wrong.

Let us examine what the Word of God has to say about homosexual conduct:

"You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination {Leviticus 18:22)
"If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them" (Lev 20:13)
"Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Cor 6:9-10)
"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. (Romans 1:26-28)

Almighty God has made his commands on this issue clear in the Holy Bible. You have been warned.
Ah, welcome back Shouty Man ;)

If you'd started that claim with "I believe..." then I'd take you more seriously. The problem is that you are insisting that your interpretation is the correct one where other Christians would disagree with you. Since you can't all be right I'll ignore your threat.

It is sad that people believe this bill creates equality and fits in with God's commands to us which we are now wilfully ignoring as a nation and people. I suggest if they do believe that this creates equality that they like many MP's simply haven't read it. It is a monsterous piece of tyranny that removes rights and does nothing for equality. It is going to cause tremendous problems in the years ahead unless significant changes are made to it. You only need to look to Canada and all the problems they are now having to know this is not a good thing.

One Liberal Democrat MP who has read the bill also notes this that it is anything but equal, and this is an MP on the left who would probably vote for it if there weren't so many flaws with it. I highly recommend you read this:

Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill (Greg Mulholland MP)

I believe they should have made changes to make civil partnerships on a same legal footing with traditional marriage as this would have been the fairest situation and result for all and would not have trampled on the rights of the majority. When the coalition government receives its order from Brussles though it has to act pretty quickly.

I've said this once and I'll say it again.

If civil partnerships offer the same benefits as marriage why not simply scrap marriage altogether and offer everyone -gay or straight- civil partnerships?

This would be the `fairest`solution.

It's the most sensible. Government and the civil authorities perform civil partnerships; churches, mosques and the rest do marriages. Probably makes sense.

Fine, but each is open to anyone. Yes?

What do you mean by that? That every mosque/church/temple must marry any two people who ask, or that each mosque/church/temple sets their own rules on who can marry?

"So many flaws" appears to be two relatively easily fixed ones: a consistent approach to consummation and a consistent approach to adultery. I find it someone disingenuous to post this link in support of your position unless you would be happy to see the bill fixed up on these two points.
