I don't know ... I went with 1cm in my thread; and I don't think it was in the sky (1st heaven), I think it was in space (2nd heaven). So, how thick would you say the layer in the sky was?

Remember Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego?Even if it was only half of the water coming from the sky your scenario would result in a cooked Earth, even if the 1 cm was ice at absolute zero. You cannot forget about the change in potential energy. Now you not only have drowned everything on Earth, you have steamed Noah and the contents of the Ark.
Remember Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego?

Personally, I think it would be much better if you simply said it was a miracle. I don't see people trying to explain how Jesus resurrected. Was he in a suspended life state for three days? Did he really die and started to decompose and were his cells brought back to life after they broke down? See how silly that sounds? It is a religious belief, if you believe it, there is no explanation needed.
Same goes for creation. The whole rationalization attempt using embedded age (or a different state past) just blows my mind. Why do that? If you believe it, there is no need for an explanation, that is faith.
On the other hand, I seek explanations for evolution because I do not believe it. Rather, I accept it. Evolution (or any other scientific theory) does not require belief, it requires evidence.
Actually Jesus, according to scripture, was dead for less than two days. The writers of the Gospels could not count.
Haha, nice one, but that would still be enough time for decomposition to start.
Heat protection.Nope, what's the connection?
Once I realized the great distance (from my thread), I have since abandoned the Water Canopy Theory for one of a giant ice ball/cube.PS: Your 1 cm shell would have to be roughly 11 million miles from the Earth, or in other words about 60 times the distance from the Earth to the Moon away.
Some believe* that the earth was surrounded by a water canopy that refracted & reflected the sun's rays around it, producing a tropical atmosphere year round.
* I used to be a staunch supporter of the water canopy model, but I'm leaning more toward a giant ice ball (or even ice cube) in space.
You respond your way, and I'll respond mine.Personally, I think it would be much better if you simply said it was a miracle.
When we see how God handled Mother Nature in other circumstances, it helps us to understand how He could have handled it during the circumstance in question.Google searched it.
Sorry, if you are going to mix myths then you need to show that myth happened in the scriptures. You are jumping past LastThursdayism in your grasping at biblical straws.

Telling me that the Flood could not have happened as described in the Bible because heat would have evaporated the earth will indeed prompt me to bring up Daniel's three friends.
By the same token, telling me that the Flood could not have happened because of food considerations will prompt me to bring up the widow of Zarephath story.
As I have said before, I love it when these simple Sunday School lessons can be applied to those who think their science is big and bad enough to trump God's miracles.
You respond your way, and I'll respond mine.
I'm not above making suppositions.
As I say, don't ask the question if you're not going to like the answer.
If you were there when it happened, I'm sure you wouldn't think that way.Don't you find it strange that your supposed miracles are indistinguishable from a miracle not happening?
What evidence? The only reason you invoke miracles is because the evidence contradicts your beliefs.
If you were there when it happened, I'm sure you wouldn't think that way.
What evidence?
All you're doing is saying Mother Nature wouldn't let it happen as recorded; and I'm saying God told Mother Nature to take a hike.
So?A giant ball of ice would occupy a larger volume than the equivalent amount of water if it was liquid. Ice is less dense than water.
Cute.... and I'm saying God told Mother Nature to take a hike.
The only reason you are telling the evidence to take a hike...
So?
When the time came, God melted this ice cube, opened the windows of [first] heaven, and it rained about two or three miles of water.
