• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As the micro-bio interface approaches, I consider the implications from privacy to productivity. The implications of optical over lays, audio and other material senses, not to mention the spatial and temporal senses, are enough to while away a long drive.

Is access to all "knowledge" worth your ideas being tracked?, "your knowledge" being provided?

Would your accept an implant?
Would you plug in?

I think he means, if a "matrix" style neural interface could be installed into humans, with all of the benifits and drawbacks (lack of privacy), would you sign up for it?

Me? Doubtful. I won't buy a new model of a cell phone until several million others have tried it out.

My thoughts are already being tracked and we are already using these tools albeit through PCs and mobile devices. It is not just a matter of information - I can skype family all over the world and share a bit of Christmas with them in real time. So it is also a quality of life and relational tool.
Implants would really only be a continuation of trends already under way.

If I were a fighter pilot or soldier the speed advantage might be crucial but I would not use an implant for christianforums. I wonder if it would help medical personnel, translators and scientists. But most likely the implants would have problems, cause infections, extra stress and overload parts of the brain. May be having these things at arms length is still the healthy option. I think health considerations and quality considerations would be important but also the implications for control. I have yet to see an experiment where people could really control peoples thoughts and behaviour but I suppose in the future this might be possible.
