Literal Babylon was the city that oppressed God's people, she thought she was invincible, engaged in sorcery, detroyed other nations, the people of Israel were held captive there for 70 years because of their sins. But then Babylon would be destroyed and the people were told to flee from Babylon.

Spiritual Babylon is the end time oppressive power that persecutes God's commandment keeping people. She is likened to Jezebel, who persecuted the prophets in ancient Israel. The prophets used a figure of a corrupt woman as a symbol of apostasy in the church. Jezebel sits on a beast, so has political power.

In the Dark Ages, the church become corrupt, adopted pagan practices and persecuted dissenters putting an almost infinite number to death.

So at the end of time a corrupt church will seek political power, oppress God's faithful ones, and also be infiltrated by spiritualism (sorcery). This mainly points to the Protestant churches, but will include all denominations except the Seventh-day Adventist church, who alone will remain faithful to the Ten Commandments. The other churches will all reject the Sabbath truth, and thus by accepting the papal Sabbath will worship the beast, because the only authority for Sunday is the claim of the papacy to have changed God's laws. And no man can change God's law.

The Bible is so simple and plain but most do not get it. The word Babylon originated from the word Babel which means confusion in Hebrew. Jerusalem is known as the most worshipped or holy city in the world by three major religions Judaic, Christians and Islam. This city have at it site the Catholic, Orthodox, Armenian, and Coptic all together supposedly at the place they think is where YASHUA was crucified. It is known for it trades from the Sea and it the only place that has killed the prophet and apostles. The Catholic own enormous amount of real estate and she has for centuries wanted to rule this city. Read your history books about the Crusades. The last one is truly strange but prophecies must be fulfilled. Jerusalem was controlled by the Catholic but the Muslim won it back. King Richard Lionheart had a plan that was debunk by the Turks. The Great Muslim Saladin used a scorched earth strategy, and denied supplies of water into Jerusalem and King Richard had to abandon his well thought of plans to besiege the holy city. However, Saladin and King Richard was able to negotiate a treaty that gave Christian pilgrims special rights in Jerusalem. It was during WWI when the Ottoman Empire had fallen when Britian controlled Palestine and finally after WWII 1948 Zionist Israelis or European known as Ashkenazi Caucasian Jews took over Jerusalem. However the pack was made back during King Richard and Saladin that the Papacy had stake in this land!​

Now here is another proof because the New Jerusalem is also known as that GREAT CITY that will never be destroyed.​

And he carried me away in the spirit to a Great and High Mountain, and shewed me that GREAT CITY, the HOLY Jerusalem, descending out of Heaven from ELOHIM, Rev 21:10 ​

Greetings scratch,

No. The 144,000 are selected by God from all churches, nations, cultures and peoples. The story in Revelation -- the Second Coming and the end of sin for all time -- is a story for all people. It involves the entire world and all people.

The SDA Church, like other denominations, have inserted themselves into the story of Revelation. The SDA Church is not at the center of Revelation. Jesus is. It is His might and power that will spread the final three angels message to all the world.

Yes Scratch is true that the 144,000 will come out of the SDA Church as the true messengers or five wise five virgins to finish the truth or the Loud Cry. They are the messengers fying to bring from everywhere the gospel of truth and all the seeds will join together to obey and keep ELOHIM'S Commandment and YASHUA'S Testimony. All the churches will fall because all of them including the SDA will not keep all of HIS Commandments as as all religions and non-religions of the world. That where me and my friend MidnightCry and I disagree!

Roman architecture is well known and respected. It has been used for centuries, along with Greek and others, to signify elegance and greatness. There is no explicit spiritual significance to it, no more than there is in the dentil mouldings and bay windows of the Victorian period.

Edit to add: Are you suggesting the USA's founding fathers were Papists? BTW, the Roman Catholic Church is probably the most outspoken and persistant critic of Freemasonry in all of Christianity.

I am a firm believer in religious liberty, too!

Do you have evidence of my "corrupt" church turning to civil power for support? Have I somehow civilally persecuted you? I would love to correct this travesty if I can!

And even in recent times, SDA's have experienced persecution in the USA when an attempt was made to enforce Sunday laws, an attempt was made to prosecute all the male members of one church, and some were sentenced to the chain gang.

In the future when the Sunday law is enforced this persecution will become worldwide.

In 1888 a bill was introduced in the United States to enforce Sunday worship. In one instance an attempt was made to prosecute every male member of a church in Springville, Tennessee.

SDA's believe such laws will be return in the future, and become worldwide.

Many of the Sunday episodes today seem simply an absurd waste of government time and resources, such as the case of W. B. Capps of Weakley County, Tennessee. In June of 1894 Capps was arrested for repeatedly performing "common labor" on his farm on Sundays. Capps, a Seventh-day Adventist, was found guilty and fined $10 and court costs totaling more than $50. The Supreme Court of Tennessee later upheld Capps's conviction, increasing his courts costs and fines to $110.45.

Capps, unable to pay, was sentenced to more than 400 days in the local jail, to work off the debt at the rate of 25 cents per day--leaving his wife and four children without support. He was released after serving 97 days, but only because readers of a Jewish newspaper in New York had raised enough money to pay his fines.

Adventists and Seventh Day Baptists who--guilty of violating Sunday laws--refused to pay fines on grounds of conscience were frequently sentenced to serve time on chain gangs, shackled alongside drunks, brawlers, and bank robbers.
In May of 1892 four Adventists in Springville, Tennessee, were found guilty of cutting wood, plowing fields, and chopping down weeds on Sundays. In court all four refused to make a formal defense and were quickly found guilty and fined $25. When they refused to pay, three of the men were placed on a chain gang and made to work on a local road project. Noted one Adventist publication, "The chain gang was composed of three honest, sober, industrious Christian farmers whose only crime was that of doing farm labor on the first day of the week, and three men who had been convicted of drunkenness, discharging of firearms on the streets, fighting, and shooting at the city marshal."

Adventists and others doing free or charitable labor on Sunday still faced arrest. In January of 1886 J. L. James of Star of the West, Arkansas, was hauled into court after a local Baptist minister saw him doing carpentry work on the home of a local widow. Though James explained that he repaired the house in order to protect it from a rainstorm, he was convicted and fined. James refused to pay and was saved from prison only because friends paid the fine for him.

After a Maryland court upheld the state's Sunday law in 1894, zealous citizens in Shady Side formed a "Watchman's Association" to ferret out those who worked on the "Lord's day." One man was arrested for picking up sticks in his yard. In Queen Anne's County one especially active Sunday protector reported his own brother for hauling window sashes from the local dock to a nearby Seventh-day Adventist church.

Even the U.S. Supreme Court jumped on the "protect Sunday" bandwagon. In the 1888 case Bucher v. Cheshire Railroad Company, the High Court ruled in favor of a railroad company that sought to dismiss a case brought against it by someone injured while riding one of its trains. The company held that the man, Theodore P. Bucher, was not entitled to damages because he had been traveling on Sunday, in violation of Massachusetts law. The High Court also reversed a murder verdict in 1897, declaring it invalid for having been entered on a Sunday (Stone v. U.S.).
