  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yikes. He went right off the rails for sure.

Edward Current. The Youtube celebrity who likes to make fun of Bible-believing Christians by parodying their the most extreme and silliest stereotypes.

I would almost like to hear the explanation for why English is the "specially blessed" language of the "preserved text"---as well as the language of Eden. But despite my curiosity, I hate to encourage the mockery of sincere Christians even in such a relatively harmless way. (After all, very few Christians reflect the extremes of such cliched stereotypes. So far the mimicry has fallen only slightly short of "The KJV was good enough for the Apostle Paul so that's good enough for me.")

Some things are more fun to mock, than understand; aren't they?

Yes, taken at face value, your claim obviously based on the fact you're a white American - Baptist- male. If I'm wrong about that, and if you have any evidence to support English being the 'chosen' language, I'm all ears.

So THAT is why you keep making fun of the scriptures with your various "theories"? I assumed as much---and it appears every one else did also--- but I had not anticipated that you would make such an open admission.

It certainly explains why you didn't bother to address any of the reasonable questions which participants applied to your "Why English?" anachronism fallacies.

Wow ... that's one doosey of a statement.

Are you implying that, if I was black, I would say the King James Bible was written in African?

Perhaps the one who opened this line of discussion can supply you with the information you're looking for.

I'm actually interested to see if he comments any further on this.

When I give my 2ȼ, and make it clear it's my 2ȼ, I don't feel obligated to defend it as a "theory" or "major belief".

What I give as my 2ȼ today, might change tomorrow; and to be held to it later on as something I believe as major doctrine or something, I take with a grain of salt.

Well AV, are you a Mozambique national who speaks Swahili, but is convinced A&E spoke English in the "garden," and that English is god's holy language?
Don't worry about it.

It sure wasn't French!!!!! :)

I suspect that the state change affected the brain and the way we process info. All languages then. might be a part of the former one language.

On the issue of hot spots, I see that most are on plate boundaries.

Perhaps some plate boundaries are not yet discovered?

As a further point of interest Pele sounds a lot like Peleg.

But I WILL agree that exactly that sort of presumptuousness of people who have no knowledge of Biblical Hebrew, exegesis, and Biblical theology & textual criticism has been the hallmark of the King James Only movement since its start. Just as you parodied, that sort of "I know better than the author of the Biblical text" attitude has raised that mindset to near cult status in some areas of the U.S.
.

I"ve come to believe that the KJO movement is nothing more than a matter of convenience. Its just too hard to figure out what the bible authors meant by reading old hebrew texts and looking at different translations. Its much easier to assume that the KJV1611 bible is the one and only perfect bible and ignore anything else, especially if you just happen to speak English. While its true that the pedigrees of those involved in putting the KJV1611 together were impressive, they simply did not have access to all the earlier bible texts that we have today. In conclusion, I have found no good reason to believe that the KJV1611 is more perfect than any other.

I mean that science is fairy tales. The hot spot cited earlier, where does it come from? You guys run when details are raised. As for God's word, there can be no doubt that the future and the past are different in key ways than the present. Science then is merely a present based explanation for all things.

Strange that this "fairy tale" science is responsible for all the technology around you. It must all be fairy tales too. You must just be pretending to post on the internet, which is itself some big fairy tale. So is your computer and the electricity it runs on.

Oh... btw... what has dadology done for us? What has it produced? Nothing, you say?

Strange...
