  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sodomy is bad, we all read. The continued public vocals from Christian leaders, and sometimes from the pulpit, isn't appropriate. For those who are vocal to the general public are only telling half the story of a Christian life.

It doesn't matter if one of our best representatives of the Christian faith is interviewed for an hour on camera, with every word and expression recorded, only the hot button words and phrases will make it to print, radio, on tv. Ratings, advertisers and sales is the business, sell what sells. Even if it is a Christian magazine.

My idea of when speaking always be in the Spirit, choose words carefully, do not belittle anyone (group), speak as if Jesus was standing beside you, (for He is).

Signaling out certain groups of society for ridicule isn't Christ-like. Doesn't society make up the church. Church members come out of society, (world), for a better way of life I hope. Preaching truth and hearing truth is great and fulfilling to the Christian, for they have an understanding. But what about those who are lost, they can not understand the Word as you and I. And often when they do hear a basic self-explanatory verse they become offended, for they do not have the Spirit.

Honestly, if someone from the world hasn't offended you today you might want to check yourself, ask a brother/sister or pastor for an honest character assessment.

I have never met a Christian who stands for Biblical values and knows what God says about homosexual sex who is afraid of homosexuals. "Homophobia" (a recent invention) is a word homosexuals and their supporters use in an attempt to belittle and make seem ill Christians who take a Biblical stance but is really not a valid word for that stance.

Homophobia though is also a word that if fairly applied to people (mainly men) who though they themselves may commit every sin in the book choose to decide to suddenly become very moral and self righteous on that subject. Christians do need to be careful I think to ensure that they don't appear to be seen to be almost identical to those who are homophobic. As to a recent invention - surely the same could be said of racism, sexism and ageism. I reiterate I don't consider the gay lifestyle to be an appropriate one for a Christian but i think that the way some folk (well OK men) treat it as almost the overarching sin is not the right way to approach it. We all know, at least in the UK that there are political groups who are obsessed about race but they cover it up by claiming that they are not against Pakistanis etc but against radical Islam - but in reality its clear what their real agenda is. We need to be careful that we are not seen in the same way on this issue.
Btw can anyone advise on my point re the difference in the male and female response in terms of Christians

you put it really well, but i would argue it is not about not appearing homophobic, it is searching our hearts to make sure we are not.

scriptures clearly tells us what buries deep inside our heart will come out one way or another, that is prob the main reason why gays receive an incredble amount of loving attentions from us.

I have never seen a homosexual protest that made a differenciation between Christians to whom they apply the homophobic word. The Bible is clear that God condemns homosexual sex (not the homosexuals) is true and we should be busy educating Christians who don't understand that. But we should not be about supporting homosexual causes.

acutually, i have many gay friends and they know what my stance is and yet i have never been accused of being homophobic.

maybe it is because i genuinely love and care for them and it shows?

you'd be surprised how quickly misunderstndings could be cleared up if only you are willing to interact with them in a christlike manner.

I have interacted with them and treat them no differently than I would treat anyone else. I have found them generally friendly and loving. But God still says if they don't give up homosexual sex they will never see the Kingdom of Heaven. And if they ever ask they need to be warned.

It's sad to see the number of users on here who call themselves Christians and actually support homosexuality.

Its sad to see the number of users on here who call themselves Christians and then turn a blind eye to just how much homosexuals have suffered under christians. ^_^

Homosexual sex is condemned by God. Read your Bible. If homosexuals are suffering they have brought it on themselves. Most Christians I know are simply trying to warn homosexuals.

Well, I wish I had been lived around you. I have been threatened, ridiculed, ostracised, and chased out of groups because people thought I was gay and these are all Christians. I have never been on a date with a guy nor have I ever had sex with a guy. I am not attracted to men sexually at all. But since I am soft spoken, cry easily, and prefer company of women and to do "girl" things I must be gay.

wow, like i have pointed out earlier, Jesus has taught us what goes on deep inside our heart will come out one way or another, you hate for homosexuals is so palpable, it is shocking!

let get one thing straight here, just because a non believers is sinning does not mean they deserve to get mistreated for it.

shame on you!

as for Christians simply trying to warn them? please, if that all what they are doing, and they are actually loving the sinners while they are doing it, homosexuals wont be suffering as much, that is a fact!

The one thing you need to get straight is that while you may have met some who call themselves Christians who have been cruel to homosexuals I am not one of them. I have known some homosexuals and found them to be loving and friendly. But if they practice homosexual sex they are condemned by God. Shame on you for spreading lies me and others who try to warn homosexuals.

I don't think there actually are that many that are in favor of homosexual relationship, but many do however feel we are to love and encourage them. Catching bees with honey sotosay.

I believe that Jesus would forgive them of all their past sins if they would simply admit their sin and sin no more irt homosexuality.:prayer:

I have to agree that some of this suffering is brought on by the sin of the homosexual. When I lived in Los Angeles half of West Hollywood was dying from aids. I have to think that this is a consequence of their sin. As Christians we are called to love the homosexual but this does not mean that we condone their actions. I think much of their suffering is a result of their sin.

Not hateful, just truthful.

But thats like saying if anyone who is not a Christian is suffering, then they brought it on themselves - if not by things like promiscuity then by simply not believing (as homosexuality is not surely some kind of super sin). And anyway Christians suffer too.

Yep Christians do suffer and guess what, we sin too.

Coincidence?
