  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Romney just cost himself the election

Just look at the amount already spent on this presidential campaign alone. Do you really think that money came from poor people? Do poor people run the super Pacs? Both parties have their corporate sponsors (their Koch brothers and George Sorros's) and when they get in power they do the crony capitalist thing and hook them up. Money talks and the poor don't have it.

In other words, you have no examples to back up your claims.

The tax cuts were for a set length of time and that time passed. He gave them a tax cut they wouldn't otherwise have had. He should have vetoed it but he sold out to the rich like usual.

In other words, you have no examples to back up your claims.
You quoted the example. Must not have read the part you copied and pasted?

Yeah, I think if I saw my candidate say something like that I would try changing the subject to something totally unrelated that makes the other guy look bad too. Trying to defend Romney's statement would be a loose loose scenario.

Just pointing out this song ain't over yet.

OP: Romney just cost himself the election

How is that selling out to the rich? Why isn't it selling out to the other people included in the tax cuts?

You quoted the example. Must not have read the part you copied and pasted?

Actually, I read the whole thing. That's how I know there isn't one word in it about Obama expressing support for the wealthy, much less any examples of him doing so.

The republicans are just using Mitt as a filler they know they can't beat Obama but they are running a pass play with a second string qb because the game is over they lost. They are preparing a candidate to run after the next term.

Mitt and Bush have the same IQ.

That wasn't what the second part of my post was about. It was about the rich purchasing elections. I was showing that their interests are more than looked out for. They direct the whole show. The "poor rich who will look out for their interests" routine is crazy.

How is that selling out to the rich? Why isn't it selling out to the other people included in the tax cuts?
A lot of other Democrats were saying we should end the tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and only extend the cuts for the middle class. He ignored them and handed his wealthy supporters the same tax cut Bush gave them. He has added billions to the debt to make sure the wealthy get their tax cuts.

Both are 2x greater than Obama.

LOL. It's funny because it's knee jerk based on no actual information.

Unlike W. who seemed incapable of speaking English Obama actually was a professor.

While I know that is "bad" in the eyes of the Illiterati on the Right, it actually i kinda impressive.

I'd rather assume that Obama, no matter whether you like him or not, is demonstrably much smarter than W could ever want to be.

Mitt, who knows? He, like Obama is an Ivy League Trained Lawyer, so he's probably pretty sharp.

Oh, wait, I didn't mean to say that...I know you guys on the Right don't like "Elites".

That wasn't what the second part of my post was about.

Then, as I said, you did not answer the question.

A lot of other Democrats were saying we should end the tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and only extend the cuts for the middle class. He ignored them and handed his wealthy supporters the same tax cut Bush gave them.

He didn't "hand them a tax cut". He chose to continue an across-the-board tax cut.

He has added billions to the debt to make sure the wealthy get their tax cuts.

How did he do this? How do tax cuts add to the debt when they're not an expenditure and do not cost anything?

Seems to me like he just told the truth. Granted, we aren't accustomed to hearing the truth like that but i don't see truth telling as a disqualifier

Yes he did tell the truth. And his comment about not worrying about that particular 47% spoke to how they would vote, not that he wouldn't care or do anything in their behalf if elected.

And he is correct. Millions will vote for Obama regardless of how bad things get in this country. Even if they went from having a two hundred K job and a nice house in 2008 to being homeless by 2012, they would still vote for him simply because it is him.
