It has been amazing watching her build the nest, incubate the eggs, and raise these little cuties
She has lost some to predators, so it is nice to see her be successful
She has been nesting at that home for years now.
Sadly, it is her last brood for the season

For two years we had a hummer nest on the windchime right outside my kitchen window...I saw momma lay her eggs both times....the tiny chicks look like raisens...sooooooo cute!!!!!

It is so woodsy here they don't nest near homes; usually in the knot of a horizontal tree limb...almost impossible to see!

*1 baby fledged tonight...and kept coming back to encourage his/her sibling; quite something to watch
Perhaps tomorrow the other baby will fly the nest

Back in the 1980's I had the wonderful experience (for 10 years) of caring for 100+ Eastern Bluebird boxes for the state ornithologist.
That was awesome keeping track of all the nesting pairs and #'s of fledglings

Yes I was blessed in my 'youth' to have a great spell of some 10-15 years where I could enjoy nature before illnesses leveled my activities
Since then I have gotten out, but in moderation....still very enjoyable.
Any little thing brings me joy these days....from a flower..... to a firefly at night..... to a bat flying overhead in the yard at dusk

Now he/she comes and goes to show the other (who was born 1 day later) what to do.
That is unusual...and quite amusing to see him hovering nearby....so sweet

Yup, the one that fledged came back to stay until their sibling is strong enough to fly I guess!
He occasionally takes to the air and comes right back....amazing!
The Mom comes to feed them ...that is a sight to see as well.
And to think they are actually SMALLER in person; beautiful creatures!

Hope your day has got off to a good start. I was out with David to the local garage shop where I got sandwiches at the deli and posted a letter. I am just finishing mine off. It's dry, breezy and cloudy here today, but there are rumours that summer is round the corner.

I will shortly be heading to the charity shop where I volunteer on Wednesday afternoons. The proceeds go towards missionary work in Mozambique where 2 members of our church are working. The shop is run by a group of people from several churches. Last month we ran a fashion show to raise funds for a wheelchair project there - we had lots of fun and lots of money was raised.

It looks quiet in here...I have been offline all day while hubby's pc was unplugged...his room is now painted...and we have only the outside of the front door to paint. Plans are to do that on Monday.

My house feels brand new.

Hi Gail...today was the final day for the inside painting...it looks super...the heat is building again. I have Gracie hitched to me with the leash. When the painters leave I let her loose.

I am glad to be finishing this job....very glad to have it done too.

Our heat finally left...along with the humidity....cooler temps right through the weekend It feels great!
