  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi, I'm mostly into punk rock and ska. Does anyone here know of any good Christian punk bands? Maybe even some ska or ska-punk? Preferably UNDERGROUND punk; as in non-mainstream, but feel free to list any you know.

The only ones I've run into so far, and reccomend are:

  1. Headnoise
  2. Dogwood
And that's about it. Let me know if you know of any other good ones!

Here's some more good examples of Christian punk, though most of these bands aren't exclusively punk:

Scaterd Few -- Sometimes they sound like punk with a goth vibe.

Ballydowse -- Some of their music is a mix of punk and Celtic. At times they sound like the Sex Pistols meeting up with Irish fiddlers on a pirate ship.

The Lead -- They started off as a hardcore punk band in the 80's, possibly the first Christian punk band using a female lead (though they also used some male lead vocals). Eventually they went metal.

The Clergy -- If you like grunge punk with a psychedelic feel, check out their "Ruami" album. It's one of my all time favorite albums. Love it!

The Huntingtons -- They could be described as a Christian tribute band to the Ramones, though I can hear some of that mainstream "pop punk" influence showing at times (something I'm not a big fan of). But usually I like this group.

Another band I could mention is the Altar Boys, since many have classified their "When You're A Rebel" album as punk. I didn't classify it as punk when it came out, but there is a definite punk feel to it. Sometimes I can hear a bit of Altar Boys in One Bad Pig (who were already mentioned). If you have never heard One Bad Pig, check out the song "Man In Black" that they did with Johnny Cash. I wouldn't classify this specific song as punk, but it's a song more people should here.

Thanx, these are all right, the best out of all of them is probably scatered few in my opinion.

Does anyone know of any Christian crust punk bands, ya know like Nausea and Aus-Rotten, except, well ya know, Christian?

All of the bands on Thumper Punk Records are (underground) Christian punk. I hope this helps.

Stellar Kart
they are Punk

They are so good I enjoy them..

Thanx, they're not bad. They're a little more on the pop-punk side, but I like that stuff too, esp when it evokes emotion, like the Bouncing Souls, except they're not Christian. I sep like "All My Heart" off of Everything is Different Now. I think I'm gonna buy the album.

END THREAD.
Great picks.

(Well, ok, I'll add a few more...)
The Blamed - A bit more Fugazi than punk, but their album Isolated Incident is worth checking out.

One-21 - Not really a fan of these guys (anymore), but definitely recommended if you're into the Dogwood side of punk, especially When The Dragon Is Finally Laid To Rest.

Crash Rickshaw - Less punk and more alternative, there is still a punk aesthetic to their music that's pretty satisfying--especially their self-titled album

Ninety Pound Wuss - Sloppy, loud, and catchy as all. Short Hand Operation is my album pick, though Where Meager Die of Self Interest is the album that probably lines closest to what you're looking for.

That's all I've got off-hand. Christian Punk isn't a genre I've thought about in years and, obviously, only a few bands that can be classified as such have made my ipod. LOL

Thanx a lot. I think I like The Blamed the most out of all of these. The rest of em are pretty sloppy punk, I'm not really into that anymore. Reminds me of the old school Casualties/Oxymoron kinda stuff.
