• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

:ahah:
It's especially funny to me since I grew up in a Baptist Christian church/school.

So true... One correction though: baptists don't make music, you are only allowed to play music that's found in the dusty old hymnal books in the pews and ONLY play them with a piano. Guitars, drums, and everything electronic is considered sinful.
^_^ I stand corrected.

Evolution may be 'merely a scientific theory' to you, but to others, evolution is a tool for justifying heinous acts of savagery from abortion to genetic engineering.
Funny, I don't know anyone who uses evolution to justify abortion or genetic engineering of people.

Downplaying a child in a mother's womb to that of 'fetal tissue' has the effect of stymying the conscious;
I don't see this as an evolution issue. God apparently doesn't have a problem aborting such children.... its called a "miscarriage," and God has been doing it for 6,000 years (according to you).

and playing with people's genes to effect a master race is just plain wrong, and led to all sorts of crimes against humanity.
Yeah, well, the whole Master Race idea kinda went out with your Christian friend Hitler.

I spit on evolution and the science that backs it.
Evolution farts in your general direction.

In addition, evolution blasphemes the God of Heaven, mainly by using third-rate terminology to explain 'scientific' progress -- such as referring to God's creation that was 'made in the image and likeness of God' as 'mutant copy-errors.'
Sorry, but you do carry with you a few mutations. I thought that was OK, since it was Adam's sin that let those in anyway and not God.

Evolution has morally bankrupted society after society by creating an alternate interpretation of Genesis 1, which then quite often has the effect of pitting 'brother against brother' in a type of spiritual civil war.
How can evolution have morally bankrupted a society in which the majority does not accept it?? The "Holy War" was declared by you Fundamentalists in the first place.

Enough said -- and I'm not interested in anything you have to say otherwise.
Yeah, its not like this is a Discussion Forum or anything like that...

I thought my rant was against evolution -- not science.
And Geology
And Astronomy
And Linguistics
And Anthropology
And Genetics
And Cosmology
And Paleontology
And Physics

etc., etc.

My views on science are well-known here -- (or should be by now).
True enough.

But to reiterate them:

I hold science up to a Higher Standard than even scientists themselves do.
We see it as a much lower standard.

I believe science is a gift from God

In other words, I believe the Holy Spirit gives some select people the 'gift of knowledge' -- or an innate desire to learn how God's creation works.
A gift from God practiced by servants of Hell.

Instead, most scientists today use science against God and His Word.
And your erroneous interpretation of His Word.

Well, I'm new here... so it seems everyone here is familiar with this AV1611VET fellows views on science but me. But at least I'm not the only one who questions the guys scientific knowledge. Though I do always welcome being proved wrong (and really appreciates it when it actually happens).

Evolution is merely a scientific theory that attempts to explain the diversity of life...

Wow Jazer, you weren't joking... that last one was just a picture of falling dominoes, even if I wanted to refute that I have no idea what is being referred to there. And I was really hoping for a good discourse too. Are Creationists/ID supporters just becoming more and more frightened of how they will come across in an actual discourse? Or do they just find discussions pointless (and if they do, how do they ever expect their change in society to happen?)?

Look how inconsistent AV1611VET is. His rant was against "evolution and the science that backs it"
Well, this means biology, geology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, astrophysics, cosmology, glaciology, spectroscopy, atomic physics, embryology, geophysics, paleontology, thermodynamics, biogeography, genetics, linguistics, oceanography, sedimentology, climatology, and many more.

I love (albeit in an ironic sense) the part where all their evidence flees, and leaves them standing before the Judgment Seat empty-handed.

Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

I can just see an atheist saying, "But all the evidence on the earth pointed to You not existing!?"

And God leaning forward and simply saying, "Show Me."

The exact same words atheists and scientists like to say to us -- "show me" -- is going to be used against them at the Judgment Seat.

And it's sad -- it really is.

LOL! The only sad aspect is that you cling to this fantasy scenario so strongly! But, at least your version of God is consistant with the O.T. The one that fools mankind into sinning knowing full well that they will, and then blames them for it when they do sin.

Welcome to CF!

Not to take away the fun of discovering the posting nature of our fellow posters, you may find Greg's posts not to be necessarily on topic. But I like Greg's posts, because as my father says, it's not that some people put their foot in their mouth - the entertainment is in how they get the other one in there with it.
And I was really hoping for a good discourse too.
Indeed, you can find that here.
Are Creationists/ID supporters just becoming more and more frightened of how they will come across in an actual discourse? Or do they just find discussions pointless (and if they do, how do they ever expect their change in society to happen?)?
Each creationist here appears to have their own approach to these things. One is left to wonder for the most part.
