• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Staff and Member discussion thread.

Yes but it has to make sence too I would say if we try everything else then that's the last resort

If we do this the only way it will work is if we make this forum fellowship only

Do you all want that?

Then church discussion could happen in bridge builders and Torah in everything torah:thumbsup:

Pm staff if any threads need to be moved

The sop will reflect where folks can post and what posting restrictions we will have

There is a thread on icons please see it if you haven't already

But those icons can assist who should be restricted in posting in say the Torah thread, I would say Torah scrolls and star of david only and the rest fellowship posts and questions

And in this main forum only fellowship for all icons

And in the bridge builders all MJ and HC and Jewish icons for all topics, others fellowship only, but restrict debate

and maybe we can add a soft debate tag in the subforums to help the op with the threads direction

Feeling awful, had to come rather early from church.
Can't get it up to read 2 pages of posts. G-d bless your efforts. I leave it in His hands.

I think I said this before separating the group will bring more issues and even can kill the forum, I sent a staffer in here to explain how that happened in his forum,

What we need are a few ground rules or some sort of agreed upon ediquite for posting, not even sure if it's debate ediquite we need or just posting ediquite

We deffinately don't want to segregate areas for folks, maybe topics of discussion in separate sub forums but not people groups
I can see both sides here. No we don't want to separate ourselves to the point where we have dead forums. But lets face it, how many people actually read ground rules? The ones who are the "problem kids" think the rules are for everyone else.
Sub forums might be the best way to go. That way we can all have a place to share prayers and praises, chit chat and such but we can stay away from areas that we know will only raise our blood pressure or cause someone elses to to up!

Sorry I'm so behind and I haven't even caught up yet - but I have to respond as I go... and taxes went well BTW. Baruch HaShem. We're gonna live!!!
A label I've noticed here just recently (hadn't even heard of it before) is this One Law thingie. Not good.
I have to do taxes to Ani. I didn't do them in 2010, got extensions, all that stuff. But I finished those in January and have been waiting for responses before I get my 2011 in. I'm doing them on time and this year we're getting refunds praise God. Hope you do as well.

My only concern is this - will there be a debate sub-sub forum in Bridge Builders and Everything Torah?
Say I want to go to Everything Torah and discuss head cover or kosher eating - will it be considered open for debate if all I want is to share - say - hat or sheitel ideas or tips on where to by the best kosher meat?

We need to hash out a possible tag for debate, or a tag for no debate

Thoughts?

That's very good, can you add that so we can see how it looks?

Blindly posting here:

How's this for a start - Debate Rules:

  • No personal attacks on other members of the forum; only comments relating to the subject being debated will be tolerated. Do not attack your fellow debaters!
  • Do not join in a debate unless you are at least somewhat knowledgeable about the subject. Also, do not post opinions or declarations without explaining your reasoning and (wherever possible) providing supporting evidence. Please try to keep an open mind when debating! And do not join a debate just for the sake of debating.
  • No harsh wording or labeling. You can debate without being inflammatory.

  • Do not assume that opposing posts are a personal attack on you. Tone is very difficult to interpret online especially in a debate setting.
  • Discussion of posts made in the Debate Forum in other forums will not be tolerated. When we're outside the Debate Forum we're all neutrals! Posts in the Debate Forum are not relevant to conversations outside of the Debate Forum.
  • Please PM a fellow member to get permission before using their link, quotation, or ideas to begin a new debate.
  • Do not create threads here for the specific purpose of inciting another member.
  • Do not try to change someones opinions and/or beliefs.
People have different opinions and beliefs. It is fine to share yours with the understanding that they will also share theirs - and you may never come to common ground. This is OK. Respect is key here.
  • Be mature and responsible. Don't make assumptions. Try not to take comments personally.
  • Avoid typing in all CAPS just to get your point across. (Netiquette: avoid the use of all CAPITAL LETTERS in posts. ALL CAPS is considered "shouting" and causes readability issues.)
  • Lastly, use common sense. This is not a place to vent; it is a place to rationally discuss topics of interest. If you feel yourself getting upset by a comment...take a step back and post later. Passion is great but don't let it get out of hand. Please behave accordingly!

A thought just came to me. This is an important thread which will help improve the MJ forum. But there seems to be a lot of members who are not participating today, yet we've had staff here and have been open for business since this morning.
