Ah yes...coke in a bottle!
That was a treat (right out of the machine) very time I went food shopping with my parents.
Later we found out it REMOVES RUST ^_^

And the tarnish from copper coins :D

Imagine, what it did to our stomach linings ??

:D Coke and all - we survived, and our parents survived worse (i.e. untreated dairy products).

Yup we...and they survived ;)

You mentioned dairy....I recall having milk delivered by the milk man....in glass bottles with cream on the top..... left outdoors in the milk box

And talk about diets.....a quick meal would be 'sugar, bread, and milk' in a bowl (it did taste good though) :D

Milk Sop... My kids saw me making some for myself [one morning]
five slices bread cup of milk and a tablespoon of sugar
brought to a simmer in a small pan
My "breakfast" was then shared, by them requiring to "taste-it"

From that morning onwards...I am sure they preferred that to 'porridge'

:D

About the coke...
you know they have to wear hazmat suits to make that stuff?

Most Food Production Staff do these days
re: coke production...
I guess that as they ceased putting 'Coca' extracts into Coca Cola years ago
it is now, less-hazardous to production staff

They now, get more WORK out of their Staff
;)

Yes, I remember now - I have had unprocessed, raw milk. I also remember the milk being left on the front steps. Mom also had a butter churn, and we made butter.

I don't have cool stuff like you guys but lets see what I can come up with.
Me and my best friend went alley junken for glass bottles that we turned in at the confectionary for penny candy... My mom could send her 8 year old (me) to pick up a carton of cigarettes ... (try that now. lol) My bicycle had a sissy bar and a flag. I walked to kindergarden with my friends. (that would get my parents arrested now I think).. My grandmother had a really cool silver foil christmas tree and there was a revolving light shining on it that fluctuated between yellow, blue and red. The shimmy shaker in the basement. My great grandmother gave me a skirt from the 1940's when I was 13 and it was back in style... I wore it all the time.

I too can remember when children could buy cigarettes (for adults) and also fireworks. Does anyone remember the "pretend" cigarettes we could buy, made from confectionery - white with pink ends?

sure do... I can even remember what they tasted like... chalky, sweet and crunchy. like wafer candy

_ I had a bike like that :)
_ We also walked to school with the neighbor kids (almost a mile)
_ The silver trees I remember ~ very pretty

'shimmy shaker'
Was that the thing you stood on with the belt arlund your waist and it shook you up?
I used that at 'Gloria Stevens' weight loss program in the 80's after I had my son; it didn't work ^_^

Ladies....do you remember wearing white gloves and hats with your Sunday best?

Yes, and gloves not only with Sunday best. I had to wear them when my aunt took me a zoo once. We laughed about it years later.

Does anyone remember running boards on cars, and indicators which were pointed things high up between the doors?

Wear gloves to the zoo ?!

Yes we had running boards.....I can't recall the indicator though

Remember wearing 'rubbers' over your shoes when it rained...and plain rubber boots that went over shoes in snow? classy :p

Trafficator

a 'semaphore trafficator'.
This was the earliest type of electrical turn signals fitted to motor vehicles.
At the flick of a switch an arm would pop out from the side of the vehicle
indicating which way it was going to turn.
At the same time it would light up.
