• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does anyone else have this feeling....

When pouring out your hearts to other fellow believers and asking them to pray for you, do you ever get the feeling that they're really judging you?

Just wondering if other people could relate to such a thing.

Yes, or don't really understand / or try to. Awwwkward.... You're not alone. :)

I'm not necessarily talking about requesting prayer regarding a struggle with certain sins or weaknesses. I'm talking more about asking someone for prayer regarding general trials and/or afflictions one might be going through at any given time. I mean, a person can request prayer from another believer regarding, say a sickness, or a financial difficulty, and sometimes these have been known to fall on the ears of someone who, rather than pray, are just quick to assume things as to what the one who requested prayer "possibly did that was sinful or foolish to bring on the affliction" without knowing the situation. I mean those sort of people who have something of an "if-you're-suffering-you-must-have-done-something-wrong" or "you-must-not-be-right-with-God" type attitude. Like the so-called "friends" of Job (and we know what a just and Godly man he was) who spent more time sitting there wagging their pointing fingers at him rather than encouraging him and praying with him.

Hope this is a little more clear.

I know what you mean and it's a stance I don't agree with. Even if someone was struggling with a problem behavior we should be supportive in prayer cause their honesty, openness and request for help are stepping stones to healing.

That's right, and if people were really reading the Bible, and listening to God's voice, they would know better than to be so judgmental of a brother or sister in Christ who is crying out for help.

Of course, I'm far from perfect myself. There's no getting around it: I am flawed, and have many things to work on (I mean, that's what happens as long as we are still in these mortal bodies), and I believe nobody will be perfect until that day when we believers inherit God's kingdom. But it just stands to reason that some people can be very hurtful, and sometimes without even realizing it. Some undoubtedly mean well, but they just speak without thinking. And then there are some who are just set in what they're going to think, and it seems as though it would take a sheer miracle from God to move them. That's something that we all have to pray about.

It's just nice knowing that other Christians relate to these things. This is what we should be doing - edifying one another, and not fighting over this, that, or whatever. This part of the forum is a nice haven and breath of fresh air; it brings us together. :)

Exactly! I agree and we need more of this.
