Not that it matters, but I have over 40 years of Christian study. I was raised in a church, my father was an ordained minister, Grandmother, Sunday School teacher (she was a Jewish believer), my step father was an assistant pastor in a very large church for many years. Not to mention my time in a private Christian school (nonCatholic).
I myself have studied at Yeshiva and theological institutions and even have a ordination for whatever that's worth. I have spent countless hours studying the Bible and the majority of my large library contains books related , mostly Christian, some Jewish.

With such a formidable background I am quite stunned that you give the appearance of not understanding the Incarnation, the hypostatic union and the Trinity.

But- is it that you know these doctrines but just no longer believe them? Is it that you just don't care to elaborate on them or have forgotten the details or something? Are we reading you wrong here?

It took the audience a few moments to understand what he meant - that they heard an accent that he didn't consider he had; he sounded quite normal, to him!

In other words (for the benefit of CF folk who may not understand) sometimes it is true that we 'hear' animosity in a post where none was intended by the poster.

I agree CM - we all have these 'trade-marks'.

The Hebrew word Et : Yeshua in the first verse of the Bible.
Yeshua is the Aleph and the Tav.

The most common word in the Hebrew Bible is the word Et which is spelled Aleph , Tav. the first and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet. The word Et is used over 7,000 times in the Hebrew Bible.

Et is a grammatical marker and has no translation into the English. It is in the hebrew text but never seen in the English. It is a direct object marker. It is the root word for sign (marker).

In this verse , the word et is the root word for the word sign.

Exo 4:8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.

Et means a marker which marks the direct object of the sentence. All of this might seem mundane. A simple lesson in Hebrew grammer.

But it's pictograhic meaning is interesting. The original Hebrew letters were all pictures. Aleph is the picture of an Ox signifying strength. A strong leader.

From the hebrew for christians website.

The Letter Aleph

The letter Aleph is the “father” of the Aleph-Bet, whose original pictograph represents an ox, strength, and leader. It’s numerical value is one (and also 1,000) and it is a silent letter. Aleph therefore is preeminent in its order and alludes to the ineffable mysteries of the oneness of G-d. Indeed, the word aluph (derived from the very name of this letter) means “Master” or “Lord.”

Beit, the second letter of the alphabet , is a picture of the floor plan of a tent. Hence it's meaning house. Put together aleph and beit and you get the word for father. Where we get abba from. Pictographically father means strong leader of the house. ( as a side note here. It is difficult to get wrong doctrine when you know the original meaning of the word. Father's are supposed to be strong leaders of their house)

Another example. The hebrew word for son is ben. Take beit plus the hebrew letter Nuun. the hebrew letter nuun is the picture of a seed. So ben is seed of the house.

Another example. Aleph and lamed makes up the hebrew word El. It means G-d. Pictographically Aleph is strong leader and lamed is a shepherd's staff. Or strong leader shepherd. Which seems redundant. But it means leader of the shepherds, like king of kings. Shepherd of shepherds.

Which brings me back to et. Aleph , we know by now is strong leader or strength. But what is Tav ? The letter tav comes from a picture of a marker in the form of two sticks. In other words a cross. So strong marker. Et means strong marker. Strong marker of what ? Grammatically it marks the direct object of the verb. In other words, it answers the question of where the action is directed towards. I submit to you that the action of the Bible is all directed towards Jesus. The marker of that has the picture of a cross in it.

In this following verse , the word " token " is the same root word et. It is three letters , in this case. Aleph vav tav. The Hebrew word OHT. The meaning is marker or sign.

Gen 9:11 And I will establish My covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of the flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.'
Gen 9:12 And G-d said: 'This is the token of the covenant which I make between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

But look at it pictographically. The letter vav is a tent peg or a nail. it is also the Hebrew word for " and " because it connects two things together. It is strong leader nailed to a cross. The very Hebrew word for marker is a picture of G-d nailed to a cross.

It makes me marvel at the wisdom of G-d. Because somewhere in some yeshiva , there are rabbi's looking over the scriptures and doing word studies. they are wondering about this word et and it's root word oht. Trying to determine the hidden meaning. Because they know in everyday words , there are pictures which instruct us about the meaning. So there they are looking at the Hebrew letters which are a picture strong leader nailed to a cross. This is the word that G-d choose to use as a token or sign of his covenant of mercy after the flood.

This word Oht is used many more times. It is used when G-d spoke to Moses about a sign to show to Israel. It is used as the word for sign concerning the passover. It is used in the "shema" , the great commandment where Israel is told to bind the words of The Lord upon their hands , between their eyes and on their doorposts as a "sign" (oht).

It is also the word used for the marker that G-d placed upon Cain. A mark of mercy lest Cain be slain because of his sin.

Gen 4:15 And the LORD said unto him: 'Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.' And the LORD set a sign for Cain, lest any finding him should smite him.

One last thing to say. Aleph and Tav is like saying the Alpha and the Omega. the first and the last. the beginning and the end. Jesus says that he is the Alpha and Omega.

Rev 22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, the First and the Last.

So here is a Hebrew word that is the first and the last letter of the alphabet. It means marker and it is the picture of a strong guide or leader pointing to the cross.

Precious brother, I am lying on my living room floor, praising the Lord and offering tears before Him. And why? Because the Lord showed me this insight last year during an intense study of Exodus, in the Hebrew. I had learned Hebrew on my own, and had studied intensely the original proto-Canaanite, (I think that’s the right term) pictographic nature of ancient Hebrew. When I learned the last letter tav, meant "the mark, or the sign of a covenant" I immediately saw the Lord's hidden meaning. I had already understood the aleph (ox symbol, strong leader). So oth, which I had already studied and remembered well, as meaning a "sign, or omen" I saw the "Strong leader- attached - to the cross." I'm so blessed and thrilled and filled with praise that someone else has seen this. The Lord used a seldom seen scripture to get me started 3 years ago, it was Num.12:8. In it the Lord states He speaks in "Dark sayings and similitudes” dark sayings in Hebrew means: a puzzle, a riddle, or a conundrum, so our beloved creator has given us puzzles in His word. That passage opened up the scriptures for me. When I realized, “oh, it’s a puzzle” and I began to look for the hidden meaning, using the pictograms of ancient Hebrew, truths began to pop out everywhere. The Lord also showed me, as He had you, that the key to understanding the tora is asking the question "Where is the Lord Jesus in this?

If you do the same kind of symbol study of the Father's name YHWH, you get the following
Yod - Hand
Hay - Reveal
Waw - Nail
So Yod-Hay-Waw-Hay = the hand revealed, the nail revealed
some put it this way - Behold the hand, behold the nail

Yonah,
Lets consider yod-tav as you have pointed out. Yod in ancient hebrew means hand, correct? So in the aramaic, we would have the hand and the cross. I still see possible hidden meaning here.
Yonah can no longer post here....you can contact him at his forum if you
would like to consider the conversation. He is quite the linguist :)

Agreed. Yonah is the one to speak with. He is quite fluent in Hebrew, teaches in Isreal (doesn't he Chava?) so I'd have all my ducks in order unless I just have a question about the language.
I sure do miss him not being here. He added so much.....and that's missed as well.

Lee,
To 'bump' a thread is to post on it so that it comes to the top of the list. I couldn't see that you were asking a question, or making a particular point, so I asked the question. why? Your posts since have explained it all. Contramundum, who is on here still, is also good at Hebrew & Greek.

You've not done wrong - don't worry.

Actually, if I remember correctly, the first occurrence of the word "et," alef/tav in the first sentence of Genesis is there for no purpose whatsoever; that even the sages have been baffled by it's appearance there.
I enjoy looking at all the various possibilities of what the letters mean, how they all come together. But when it comes to the Hebrew scriptures, I usually lean on the Hebrew (Jewish) understandings as the most valid. But that's just me....

I don't get why people would be baffled by the use of את. Did you know that there is such an untranslatable particle even in a language as modern as Spanish? It didn't even import this from Latin, either, because it doesn't exist in Latin!

Vi una gata en la calle. = "I saw a pussycat in the street."
Vi a una persona en la calle. = "I saw a person in the street."

Why does the second sentence bear a while the first doesn't? Is it really necessary to the meaning of the sentence? Do you see a difference in the two sentences?

I'd like you to think about it and let me know what you think before I explain this to you and relate it to the Hebrew use of the particle את.

Aleph Tav represents the prime plan of the creator, ie. The Torah/Word of God, as later the Alpha & Omega, the first born of all creation.

If you're referring to the particle את, I think such a claim would demand proof. You can say that you interpret it that way, but the word itself certainly doesn't mean that. Or, are you just talking about א and ת as the first and last letters of the alphabet in the same way that Α and Ω are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet?
