  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have any of the creationists here done the following?

Really ? 3 Years for that?

Don't blame [just] him for that.

Why not blame Hespera for posting that three years too soon?

I mean, if you're going to act like some Internet cop, act all the way.

Like you go to bed at night worried that tomorrow, when you wake up, if the moon dilemma will be solved yet?

You go to bed, there are six different theories as to how we got our moon.

You wake up, there are six different theories as to how we got our moon.

And, in fact, the older you get, the more theories show up.

And I won't even mention abiogenesis.

In short, if you can sleep at night, don't try and convince me you're sick of our lack of caring.

Try that mirror, chief.

The problem is my mantra when it comes to the things I don't know is: "Don't know. Want to know!" Just a wee bit different. ;)

To summarize: "Don't know. Don't care." Sounds AV's and just about every creationist's mantra.
Do you mean we do not know and do not care about the dribble you call science? Why should we care about the kindling for the fire that is going to all get burned up? We care about things that are eternal and that will last forever. Christians care enough about you to want to help you to receive eternal life. But it is up to you, that is your choice to make. We can not make your choices for you. We can only try to encourage you to choose life, health and prosperity.

Ya -- here's your 'wee bit difference':

You don't know, but want to, and you're not going to get what you want, yet you can still sleep at night.

I don't know, and I don't want to know, and I can sleep at night.

Have you ever seen a child being pushed down the candy aisle at the store?

"Mom! Me want! Me want! Waaaaaaaaah!"

As opposed to being pushed down the vegetable aisle?

"ZZZZZZZZZZZZ"

Your ability to sleep at night -- as I can -- is equally telling.

What is also telling, is your misdirected pouting that you can't get what you [are trying to convince me you] want.

Instead, you're ... jealous? ... that I'm not pouting like you [supposedly] are.

But in my right to have an opinion -- you're not pouting at yourself, you're bullying those who are comfortable.

That is because we so not have to lean on our own understanding. We can trust in God. Just like my wife is trying to figure out a way to help her brother with his problems. I told her to trust in God. He will show you want you can do to help your brother. He will give you the understanding that you need. If it were up to us to try an solve all of our problems we would be in real trouble.

It is all pretty absurd to buy a box with a pretty picture and instructions on the back. I would rather go to an open market in a third world nation and just buy the food and cook it myself. Science can take a hike when it comes to fake food with fake food flavor. Most people eat pot luck stew. Whatever they are lucky enough to find to eat goes in the pot, gets cooked and they eat it.

Well, to be honest, I don't think sandwiches is just talking about knowledge in problem solving.

To tell you the truth, I really don't know what he's pouting about -- thus I think he's just bullying us.

As Miss Brinny would say: Someone needs a hug! :)

I'd like to know, specifically, what problem god has ever helped you solve.
Just how do you want to go about this? How about if we talk about the most recent. My wife said her brother needs a roof for his house. It is leaking. She was upset. We are taught to pray until God gives us peace. She said she needs $1000 and I gave her $100. She said not enough. I said not my problem, pray about it and God will give you peace.

But I would be more then willing to hear what solution you have for my brother in law that has a leaking roof and it needs fixed. Do you want another example or is this good for now. Because right now we are just thinking about and dealing with problems that has my wife upset. With her family back in the third world nation that can not find a job. Even though she worked hard to help pay for her brothers daughter to go though nursing school. She did graduate from nursing school, but there are not jobs and to go over seas is difficult and costs money that they do not have.

So do you have a different solution or a different way to deal with this then we do as Christians. We trust in God to supply our needs. When they wanted a roof for the sunday school for 40 kids I gave them the $1000. Sorry I should not have told you that, but maybe somehow it relates to what we are talking about. There are two girls in the back of this photo that my wife helped to put though nursing school. Was it all a waste of time, effort and energy. Or should we continue to trust in God that He will work it all out for us. One day at a time. For some people even one moment at a time they trust God to help them with their problems. They trust God to give them peace and to give them hope. To comfort them in their time of trouble.

^_^

Every once in awhile though, they cook something up for us, and label it a wonder drug or something, and we buy into it.

2 Kings 4:38 And Elisha came again to Gilgal: and there was a dearth in the land; and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him: and he said unto his servant, Set on the great pot, and seethe pottage for the sons of the prophets.
2 Kings 4:39 And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew them not.
2 Kings 4:40 So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eat thereof.

I must've missed where god solved a problem in ^ that.

ETA: Yes, I do have a way other than praying to solve my wants and needs. It's called action. I certainly won't get anything done if all I do is sit around and pray for it.

Yep you are right, they have their answers and their solutions and the end there of is death. We offer them life and they want nothing to do with it. They would rather go the way of death.
