  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Condemning others to hell for sin?

One thing that logically puzzles me is when I hear a fellow Christian say to another person, Christian or non, "X is a sin! You are going to hell!"

I am Christian and have been condemned for being gay, and had verses thrown at me. However, Christianity is very clear that we do not earn our way to Heaven. We are giving eternal life through Christ, not of our own doing. Christ commanded us to love our neighbor as ourselves, and only through active loving of others do we love, serve and know God. 1 John 4:7-8. Look it up.

You seem to have come to the table with an ulterior motive.^_^ Let me just say that no one is ever saved until they realize that there is something from which to be saved.

In my experience, those who identify as Christian and advocates of homosexuality( pretty much the liberal crowd), are generally against the conservative Christians telling them or anyone else that something is sinful and leads to eternal separation from Christ in the Lake of Fire.

So, does it make sense to tell someone, "murders go to hell!" or "X goes to hell because they sin!" when the truth is, according to the bible, that all of us are sinners. If we are forgiven, is it right to say to someone, "I may not be perfect, but I'M forgiven, and YOU aren't, so there!!!"

Should we thank God for his forgiveness and mercy by exhalting ourselves, rather than Christ? Should we gloat about being forgiven, something that we don't deserve, when it is offered to all, and knowing that Christ died to take away the sins of the world?

It isn't loving your neighbor, nor God, but acting like a hypocrite whom Christ condemned.

Anyone able to explain this?

Yes, it makes sense to tell them this. But you have to make sure you don't tell them about the condemnation without telling them about salvation through Christ.

Personally, I see it as a fear tactic.

I am of the opinion that your entrance into Heaven is between you and God.

It most certainly is between you and God. But because Christians are to love as Christ loves, Christians should be telling the unsaved why they should seek the Savior.

People often say that it is a fear tactic. But non-Christians SHOULD be afraid of God's wrath and that eternal Lake of Fire.

I fully intend to set up shop on the first level of Hell with teh other virtueous pagans and tend my fruit trees while only having to deal witjh occasional ill winds blowing in the odor of sulpher.

I will try not to laugh when I see those who in this life condemn others pass by on their trip to lower and worse levels.

I fear I will not always succeed.

It is a shame when people make light of hell. They are clearly the ones who haven't gotten a grasp of just how bad things will be for all eternity.

Fruit trees? Try eternal burning in the dark to start. Crazy ain't it? On fire but there will be no light.

And this would be unfortunate. We all have our own path to follow in life, and destructive messengers often set us off course. It bothers me that Beanieboy is encountering, what I consider to be, destructive messengers.

It is hard to ignore negitive messages whereever they come from, but if they are repeated too many times one either goes out of their way to avoid them, starts believing them, or starts confronting them.

From what I have read from Beanieboy, he seems to be a very decent guy. I wish inner peace and happiness for him.

I hope the same.

Who else has taken the death sentence you deserve?

God loved you so much that He sent His only begotten Son that if you would place your full trust in Him [Jesus], you would not perish [forever in an eternal Hell] but that you would have everlasting life [in God's Heaven].

Just as loving as He is when He gives everyone the opportunity to not spend an eternity in a lake of fire.

His love doesn't change just because we choose to do what we want to do. There are some here who readily admit that they would much rather go to hell than submit to His Lordship.

And He will allow it. Just as He allows us to forinicate, steal, murder babies, divorce and lie.

He offers His eternal love to those who want it. So folks need not question His love after they have chosen to reject Him.

That's like telling the unpopular girl at the prom that you poured pig's blood over that she didn't love you as she watches you jump off a cliff to your death instead of trying to stop you one last time.

No one that I know of, much less an entity that I have no evidence they exist.

God loved you so much that He sent His only begotten Son that if you would place your full trust in Him [Jesus], you would not perish [forever in an eternal Hell] but that you would have everlasting life [in God's Heaven].

I keep hearing that, but I get no evidence there is either place (Heaven or Hell). Much less that there is any earthly need for God to sacrifice himself (in the form of the Boy) to himself. Now that I type that out, it really seams silly.

I'm still gonna die, so I don't see how anybody took that death sentence away.

Biblically, death is a separation of two things. Your physical death is a separation of your body from your soul. If you are not a Christian, your soul experiences another death--separation from Christ.

Christ made it possible so that some will not have to experience the physical death, and none of those who are in Him will experience the spiritual death.

So yes, if you trust Him as Lord and Savior, He takes away the death sentence.

I haven't rejected him, I just don't think he is there.

No, it is more like her pushing me off the cliff because I didn't want to dance with her.

How loving would God be to FORCE you to be with Him? If a husband locked and boarded up a house so that his wife and kids couldn't leave, would that be loving or kidnapping?

Then there's no reason for you to question it.

personally, that's why people come to faith because He draws them unto Himself and shows them that they need a Savior. If you're one of those proverbial people who think your "doo doo" don't stank, then you will probably never see the need for being saved.

But those who realize that God is perfectly HOLY, and who realize that they sin even when they don't know they are sinning so there's no way under their own power to ever COMPLETELY deal with their sin, will humbly chase after the ONLY ONE WHO can save!

So much for loving....

Your sin is your own. Why would a HOLY God love that which is against His holiness?

I haven't rejected him, I just don't think he is there.

That's rejection.

No, it is more like her pushing me off the cliff because I didn't want to dance with her.

How is she pushing you when YOU chose to jump?

As for myself, I spent a lot of my life denying, ignoring, blaspheming the Author of all good things, acting in ways that alienated me from Him, and resisting any suggestions of re-orienting my ways to His ways.

Thankfully, by a miracle of grace, I saw that I was befriending the forces of Hell and acting contrary to any expectation of goodness (either in the here and now or the hereafter), that I was in need of God's saving mercy and forgiveness, and I received His Salvation, accepting Jesus as Lord of my life.

So we can take a holiday from Heaven?

nd as you are contemplating this question. Hum through this adaptation of Eric Clapton's tune...

Free Will in Heaven

Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure.
And I know there's got to be
Free will in heaven.

Would you throw a fit,
If He controlled you in heaven?
Would it be the same,
If He bound your will in heaven?

You must be strong,
And carry on.
'Cause you know there's no free will
Here in heaven

well since were the same age and understand what its like to be gay, I wish that you would know that there is really and truly is a way to be set free from same sex attraction, I can tell you I was about as gay as you can get, and when I accepted Jesus as not just my Savior, but also my Lord. I was shown all my sins, and homosexuality was one of them, as the bible states also. If you want to get free from the bondage and mind stealing delusion, then you have to believe the bible and trust in Jesus to help you overcome this sinfulness, The bible says that rebellion and idolatry is the door that opens up this strong delusion that homosexuals are given over to, many men idolize there own bodies, or even other men, anyway for me it was much like an anorexic girl, who had a complete false impression of who she is, the anorexic looks into a mirror and her mind tells her she's fat, she's starving to death she should be hungry but her mind lies to her and tells her she's not. That is the extensiveness of the gay deception, Its so woven into your mind you believe its true, but the bible says its a delusion, a spiritual deception to lead people away from the truth. being a sideline quarter back what do you want to tell the anorexic girl, I want to grab her and plead with her to eat somthing, with tears in my eyes beg her not to believe the image she see's in the mirror is true, because its not she's skin on bones yet she see's fat all over her. And if you turn to this same principle and start rebuking your own mind, and thoughts, If you do what the bible says in holding every thought accountable to Christ, you can break free from this very very strong delusion. I'll be honest, Its not easy, it takes way more failures than victories, you will spend alot of time wanting to just give up and go back to the deception, and it is usually at this lowest moment when a person breaks through. I would have to imagine its harder for anyone who's lived it longer, for me it was most of my life, I can tell you there are no words in the human language that can describe what its like to not be constantly bombarded day in and day out by homosexual thoughts and impure desires. When your free you really are free! Some people say there is no way out of homosexuality and I can as well as my beautiful wife can attest to not only getting free from same sex attraction, but have God given natural attractions return to where they never seemed to be. When Paul says you can be a new creation in Christ, he wasn't kidding! everything is new! the old ways and thoughts pass away. Its worth the battle, Its worth fighting for, standing on the otherside I can see how deceived I was, how my mind lied to me, how my body lied to me. Even the heart is untrustworthy says the bible. So with that being said, I never judge anyone who is outside the body of Christ and does not call himself a follower. But if you claim to be a Christian, and a real follower of Jesus, you must deny yourself and follow Him

if we are going by dante's cosmology you end up on the 6th level of hell with the epicureans as a materialist.

If we are considering the viewpoint of the Church, you are not ignorant of Christ so you bear full culpablity. Unlike the virtuous pagans, whose ignorance was not self-imposed.

Praise the LORD for He is good! Thank you for sharing you testimony with others. Though you and I did not share the same battle as you or the OP, we do share the same Deliverer and Rescuer, Jesus Christ. Stay strong in the faith my friend.
