  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I guess I'm in pretty good shape already but I've found that running is more of a mental challenge than physical. You have to overcome that voice in your head that keeps telling you to stop.

5k is a good goal to start with. Once you do your first one you'll find that adding even more distance is pretty easy.

For me, it's taken a little time for me to be able to get enough oxygen. When I first tried to run (beginning of summer), I ran probably a whole 30 seconds before I was gasping for air like a fish out of water. So I was having to stop long before my muscles were feeling any burn.

Last night I did a run/walk combo of running for 2 minutes and walking for 2 minutes and did 10 repetitions of that. Total mileage was about 3.6 miles. Felt great!! I was hoping to be able to run a 5K by the middle of September, but that's just not going to happen. So I revised my goal to run a 5K by March.

I'm signed up for a 5K race on September 18th. I will run/walk the whole thing. There's no shame in that. :)

I guess you can't undo 10+ years of smoking and 15 years of sitting on your [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] in just a few weeks. ^_^

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

My wallclock has stopped :( It's a chiming one with 2 long weights and a pendulum and about 4foot high .

We bought it about 20 years ago as an anniversary present to each other - why ? well we like it and the bob had our initials on it.

Now it's stopped - probably just needs cleaning and I can't find a clockmaker who will come to the house .

This hurts :(

Ewwwwwwww! Poor Photini.

I saved up and bought an iPad. I am in love (don't have an iPhone, although Andrew and my Dad do) and love having it in bed. Someone with the illness I have said that all sick people should have these and I agree! Easy to kill time, chat, watch videos of cats...

Anyone know any useful Orthodox apps? Not iPhone (unless there's a HD version) though thanks.
