• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Please tell me how well the WELS and even other conservative groups like ELS have been blessed in big ways that you can remember including your very own selves. Please include blessings in evangelism here and abroad, church growth, schools, changed lives, etc. I know its a big question but I'd like to see how God has manifested Himself in Lutheranism. It may seem like an odd question so ask me questions for clarification or anything else.

Are you looking for proof that this is the right church?
The greatest wonder and miracle is the faith that the Holy Spirit works in my sinful heart.

My son smiled during his Baptism, and he was 3 weeks old.

I could come up with many others where God has done amazing things. I'm just not sure you would consider them big things like I do.

In a sea of compromise, the WELS stands firm. Isn't that miracle enough? LCMS struggles, though (praise God) hasn't yet fallen. Our fight against the evil one's overthrow of the Church goes on. The largest Lutheran denomination has fallen. LCMS struggles yet survives, WELS stands firm.

"Would but that these days be shortened, even the elect would be decieved, if that were possible."

Praise the everliving and omnipotent God that we have the havens of truth still standing. Battered, yes... but still standing for the truth of Scripture.

We have Christ truly present in the Sacrament of Baptism and Communion. We have the truth of God's holy and sacred word, proclaimed each week. We have law and gospel sermons, we have public confession and absolution. These are the blessings WELS and other Confessional Churches receive from God. What more do you need? What more could you want?
