  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

His motivation wasn't 'to make the world show no evidence of the flood' -- otherwise, He would not have documented it in His Diary for us to read.

Again, He cleaned up the earth for safety & sanitary reasons, clearing the way for [quick] repopulation.

Given that there are records of other large events that caused a great deal of destruction (as well as many massive floods), I don't see why remove every shred of evidence was required for "safety & sanitary reasons" when he's never done it before or since.

This is a translation issue. Some of the more modern translations use the word entrance.

GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
As he came near the entrance to the city, he met a funeral procession. The dead man was a widow's only child. A large crowd from the city was with her.

Often there was only one road in and out of a city. The Law required them to take the dead body outside of the city. This is where Jesus met up with the funeral procession.

Understanding and translating a 2000 year old book can be a challange, but we have it under control for the most part. Still we learn new things and that can help us to have a more accurate translation from the origional language into the modern language we use today.

You had to search for that one. Using the KJV bible versions, that was the only one I found (only English translations) which translates it like that.
Furthermore, the original Greek seems to stress the fact that a building is mentioned. Strong Greek Dictionary mentions about the word Pulh: "Apparently a primary word; a gate, i.e. the leaf or wing of a folding entrance (literally or figuratively):--gate."
So, it is only a translation issue in one version, all the others have "gate".

Nain was such an insignificant little town that it didn't have "one road out of it". So, entrance of the city must indicate a specific place where you needed to get in...... Which Nain appears not to have.

It's not bad, Luke copied an OT story and placed it in Nain. Unfortunately, he didn't know the place.

God is British? I'm sure the Brits think so.
I wasn't aware the British Isles existed then, as they do now.

Drop the uniformitarianism, and you just might understand.

Ever heard of Pangaea?

So, when Adam and Eve got kicked out of Eden they went and lived in the ocean somewhere?
Nice try ...

Genesis 3:23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

Hey, you are the one claiming Pangaea (You know, the total area of known land) was Eden. So perhaps it's possible that Eden was only an area ON Pangaea?

Try: the total area of land, period -- known or otherwise.

Are we going by the current scientific understanding of how Pangaea looked?

But your bible says different, doesn't it?
Here's the conversation, in case you missed it:
Scripture calls it Eden.

In my opinion, Eden = Pangaea.

The Garden of Eden -- or Garden of Pangaea -- was in the East:

Genesis 2:8 ¶ And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

It is just quite possible then, that Adam & Eve lived in [what would later be called] China.

The British was a small tribe of people that were protected by Roman Garrisons. When the Roman left then the Anglos and Saxtons were quick to move in becasue there was no one to keep them out. Later on the Normans moved in. You may find a few Brits there, but you will find a lot more of the others.

So it's a coincidence that the places named in Genesis are in the Middle East?
