• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What I've learned of physical and life sciences -- both on and off this board -- has confirmed that creationism is nothing but mythology used as a tool of social control.

You learned nothing of the sort because you can't prove that at all. You just suppose it because you WANT to deny God's existence so you can do what you please but you can wish it away, insult it away, complain it away but it's still right here in your face and you know it. It's not going to go away no matter how much you deny it.

Indeed -- and THE truth doesn't give a rodent's posterior how you feel or who/what you believe in. It is what it is.

If you're not interested in discovering it, the least you can do is stay out of the way of those who are.

You are not discovering any truth... only lies which in the end will bite you in that rodent's posterior attitude.

Which is why Islam is one of the fastest growing religions in the world. You should convert sometime. ;)

I said it works "better" not fastest growing. Growth is not an indication of truth.

You mean see -- as in see on paper?

I don't believe there's anything wrong with denying what you guys "see" (interpret) in rock formations, ice cores, tree rings or anything else.

If both of us looked at these things, we would physically see the exact same things, but a scientist would have his training, and a creationist would have his.

The problem is that a creationist's interpretation of the facts is wrong.

But Islam does work better. (mostly because it's the word of God, embrace the truth)

And besides, it's growing so fast because more and more people are recognizing the truth. ;)

We just came out of 76 years of being wrong about the facts of Pluto, so your statement doesn't mean much.

Some "facts" only exist on paper.

We had all the facts right about Pluto. The way we used those facts to classify it was slightly flawed. The actual data hasn't changed in any way. ;)

Which fact about Pluto were we wrong about? A definition changed; our knowledge about Pluto did not.

Facts (aka data or observations) don't change; names do. Get over it.

So, again, the problem isn't the facts. It's the erroneous interpretation by creationists.

You mean like the Bible?

I noticed how you avoided how I pointed out the huge, gaping flaw in your "fulfilled prophecy" nonsense, in favor of droning on again about Pluto - Something which has been addressed and explained to you at least twice while I've been here.

Perhaps it's time you ditch the intellectual dishonesty, eh?

Twice is wishful thinking.

I need to clear up this post. I believe that "The Flood" and "Adam & Eve" and many other things are literal events recorded in the Bible, and that "talking animals"and other things are allegorical. However, because God is Soveriegn and Omnipotent, if He wanted He could cause there to be "talking animals".

But those are exactly the things I was pointing out that science does not line up with. There is nothing in science that in any way, shape, form, or fashion suggests that the flood, for instance, ever happened. Yet, I keep hearing you guys say that science repeatedly backs up the Bible when, clearly, it doesn't.

His perspective is so shockingly different than the real world. Someday we should try to sync the two.

I honestly can't imagine what's caused him to retreat so far away from reality into his little imaginary bubble of magical beings and ancient fairy tales, it's quite sad, really.

Still, as far as syncing reality and his perspective on the world... well... you'd probably need to prescribe him all sorts of medication, put him through years of therapy and counselling and still there's no guarantee that little bubble would pop.

He's lost in his own fantasy world, man. The real world might as well not exist.

It's like Alice in Wonderland, but the rabbit hole he went down is far, far more nonsensical. Talking, invisible cats and caterpillars smoking hookahs would seem comparatively sane.

The question is, are most creationists this far gone?

Apparently he hasnt substituted it for Godless myths, tales about homo erectus writing the bible or fairy tales about men sitting at a table writing for ignorance.

I'll leave that one alone.

And where exactly should we find a Godless reality? Is he really the one living in imaginary land?

Who needs Alice when intelligent design can be ascertained through man? You still haven't provided a viable mechanism for bacteria to turn into cats much less for invisible cats.
