  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In your dreams!!! Where do you guys come up with this stuff?

when creationists say that it takes more faith believe is X scientific principle or theory then it does to believe in God, they are abandoning faith.

You ask where we get this stuff? from creationists.

In your dreams!!! Where do you guys come up with this stuff?

Firstly, I only endorse Christianity!! Secondly, just because this world and probably some unbelievers posing as pseudo-christians, tried to put a definition to faith and religion (because they had no clue) and we might disagree with their definition does not mean that we in anyway try to denigrate the concepts of either and LAST of all to gain parity with science!!! Hello!!!

You are so blinded by your worship of science that you can't even see or hear for the matter what we are saying... Does the phrase "science can take a hike" sound ANYTHING like we want to gain parity with science.

You guys are so used to patting each other on the back and drooling all over yourselves that you have NO IDEA or CLUE that others standback and wonder just HOW you could not see the truth!! It is so clear!!

Here's a test to show you just where we stand with your views and so called science. Imagine this.... you are at 0 degrees and WAY over on the other side at 180 degrees is where we are... can you see that??? AND..... we DON'T .... that's a BIG DO NOT.... agree with nor WANT to agree with you on the science that does not agree with the BIBLE. We are not wishing or hoping that you can help us to see it better in any way.

The only ones who will do that are pseudo-christians or faux-chrisitians that are out there. They have no idea what faith, religion, God or Jesus is all about anyway. They build their religion on sand just as Jesus said because they do not do the things that He has told them. Science "so called" is part of that sandy ground and will someday crumble. ANYONE who bases their belief on science will fall with it. Kaboom!!

NO, NO, NO, we want no part of the devastation and destruction that inevitably will happen.

Our faith is built on nothing less than Jesus and HIS righteousness. On Christ the solid Rock we stand ALL other ground is sinking sand!!!

oh? maybe you can explain this video then?

Faith is believing something, even when science says otherwise.

Religion is the sum total of one's beliefs that cause him to act in faith.

(Definitions subject to change by author -- ;))

Not according to the KJV Bible.
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I assume, because you posted this in opposition to AV's saying that "Faith is believing SOMETHING", that you think THINGS NOT SEEN, are NOTHING.

Did you read the scripture? It talks of "THINGS hoped for" can you hope for any THING that IS something?? Can you hope for a raise even though you haven't seen one? Can you hope for answers to your questions even though you haven't seen them? Could a person hope for a wife, or a child, or a new vehicle? Yes, you can hope for all these THINGS without seeing them first. Well, faith takes it a step further. Faith speaks. Faith takes hold of the promises of God. Faith looks at the end rather than the beginning. It looks at the fullness rather than the emptiness. Just as you set your thermostat at a certain temperature you are looking for or hoping for that temperature to happen. Faith does the same thing. It expects things to happen. Faith is evidence that you are expecting things to happen. Faith is the evidence that you believe God. Faith trusts and expects it to come to pass. Faith is waiting for something and believing in Someone. Once you HAVE what you have been believing for, you no longer need the faith because you have it. Faith is what brings into being.

You guys should be able to understand this, you walk in faith all the time. You have never seen a common ancestor and yet you believe there was one. That is faith. Although, I might add, your end results will be different than ours. You see, unlike us, who have faith in the true Common Ancestor, you will never see yours, and yet we will ALL see ours. Our proof will come in the end and yours will ... crumble.

You'll never stop beating that dead horse will you?

Let's throw all the proof and evidence away for just a moment. Even then, be have plenty of reason to believe there would be common ancestors. Faith isn't just belief without seeing, it's belief without evidence or reason to do so. I might believe in somethings without explicit evidence (evolution not one of them), but believing in something with no reason to do so at all is lunacy. The things I believe I have a reason to believe them, usually based on past precedent.

Edited to fix grammar.

When you drive across a bridge, you are showing evidence of your faith in the unseen laws of the universe that say you can drive across that bridge w/o the bridge collapsing.

Those are not unseen laws.

sorry but those that understand science know what keeps the bridge from collapsing.

And even if one doesn't understand the science and mechanics of it, you can know from past experience and watching other people cross the bridge that it will hold you up.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: That isn't faith, that's reasonable expectation.

I have indeed seen a common ancestor. My father is a common ancestor of me and my brother. My grandmother was (RIP) a common ancestor of my mother, my aunts, my brother, and my cousins.

This just proves that no amount of evidence, logic, or reasoning will change a creationist's mind. You guys simply don't want to know the truth.

They don't want anything to stand in the way of the notion that they already have the truth -- not even the truth itself.

I can sort of understand it, though. I mean, for a great number of people, religion provides a "comfort zone." Because I don't need that particular crutch in my life, however "truth" reveals itself is fine and dandy with me. But for those folks who have to have that comfort zone, I can understand their hesitation to abandon it.

The only explanation I could have for this video is maybe AronRa has his father doing videos now!!??

On one hand it's sickening and on the other hand it's side splitting laughable. I am always amazed at those who make videos of THEMSELVES and put them up on youtube. I wonder where they ever got the idea that anyone really cares what their opinion is. They actually think they are gods of some sort and the masses can't wait to follow their every word. I suppose in a sense and with some silly people they are right.

Who is he? and.... Why is he talking with his eyes closed??? I'm very suspect of people who can't keep their eyes open while they are talking. And what is that silly hat all about?

I'm supposing because you put him on here that you are suggesting he is a representative of Christianity of some kind. I see no evidence of that. I don't care who he is. He is not a representative of Jesus Christ in any way, shape or form. And all I have to say to him is FIRE, FIRE, FIRE... brimstone and fire. That should let him know what side I'm on and what I thought of his narcissistic rhetoric.

Are you saying common ancestor(S) or ancestor. I believe there are commonalities from our ancestors but I do not believe that we all come from ONE common ancestor. There is no definite evidence for this, there is only speculation, although promoted more so, it is still, in truth, only speculated.

I do not believe "for no reason at all." I have the testimony of MANY whose lives have changed because, at ONE time, they chose to give their faith over to Jesus Christ, myself included. I saw what ONE moment did in my life and how it changed me forever. You can never talk that away from me. You can NEVER explain it away with your psychological might-be or emotional reasons.

I KNOW what happened instantaneously in my life and in the lives of many, many, many I have met in the last 40 years and none of them act or think like the guy in moonlancers video. These are real people from every walk of life. This is the present evidence.

As to the past we have Jesus Christ and as to the future whe have the Word of God that continually keeps coming to pass in peoples lives and in current events. Sorry but I have a more sure evidence of proof that I base all my faith upon.

SR and I weren't exactly talking about you, but in another poster's attempt to claim any attempt at theism as specifically about his theism, even though they are obviously different theisms and not the same one.

Secondly, seeing as half of your posts are tu quoque fallacies anyway and you're wilfully blind to having your double standard pointed out, SR was correct to a point.

The genetic evidence is quite magnificent, actually.
