I'm rather partial to "Something that is believed with strong conviction."

That way, you don't need to leech off of "science" to make yourself feel important -- you have a definition that stands on its own merits, and you don't need to tear anything else down to build yourself up.

Faith is belief in something without evidence. That's it. If you believe something for which no evidence exists then you have faith.

That allows for science to come along and claim: "There's evidence that says..."

Believe me, this definition comes from experience here.

When I first came here, people were claiming there was no evidence for a global flood.

When I started telling them to, "Keep looking", they switched their tactic to: "Evidence says there was no global flood."

My definition puts an end to all of that, and cuts right to the chase.

Secondly, just because this world and probably some unbelievers posing as pseudo-christians, tried to put a definition to faith and religion (because they had no clue) and we might disagree with their definition does not mean that we in anyway try to denigrate the concepts of either and LAST of all to gain parity with science!!!
