• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, not starving... more like nauseous. I just had a moment where I couldn't stand to hear it any more. I've actually had quite the fill of you guys and all your insidious insults, unsufferable blatherings, and blasphemous remarks regarding God, His Word, and His people.

How on earth is discussing ERVs and SNPs insulting or blasphemous

For 99% of religious people, their religion wasn't a choice.
Neither was their language, but I dint see how that is relevant.
One who is brought up Christian and never questions it will likely be some denomination or another of Christian their entire life.
And?

Same for a child brought up Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, etc.
And?

What it really is a testament to is the power indoctrination in children.
They must learn somehow, whether you want to call it indoctrination or not is besides the point.
Over millions of years human children have evolved
Then there's that piece of indoctrination.

the trait of believing everything their parents or other figures of authority tell them. You can get a kid to believe in Jesus just as easy as Allah, Santa Claus or unicorns.
Or Pearl harbor, The American Civil War, sports figures and stats, Pyramid builders, Mona Lisa painters, biplane designers, magnetic fields.
The issue is, parents don't tell their kids that if they don't believe in Allah, Santa or unicorns they will burn for eternity in the depths of hell.
They'll at least learn that Santa and unicorns can't come from bacteria, that they are not needed as intelligent design can be ascertained through man, and that Allah and God are two different names for the same being.

Okay, don't get me wrong. I firmly believe that evolution is a fact.
But for the creationists out there who don't believe that evolution is a fact, I have a question for you.
IF evolution was true, what would we see that we DON'T see in the world around us?

Given that nature approves of diversity, there is no good reason why (some)% of our species do not show perfect evolutionary path or progression from one species to a very distant one. Or "Evolved" one. Each member could exist in a different environment.

The second one would be an organic source for DNA or some other language or code for life. Lets say an ocean floor vent spewing an endless string of DNA code and a random way.

There should be millions of such examples to show how language, DNA, or a symbolic code of some kind could be produced. There are none. Symbolism is the product of Intelligence.

Creationist propaganda. Could you provide evidence to support these claims?.....<snip.....
Evolution is about genes being passed on. ...<snip>...

Rocks or snowflakes don't pass on genes. Which can only come from the development of some language, which requires a source of intelligence to be created. Reality is support enough.

So you do not believe in your religion because it makes sense to you? you believe it because it was the one given to you.
It doesn't matter. As a historian I would look at multiple different articles, as a codebreaker, I wouldn't want all the messages to be the same, as a crime scene investigator, the more angles the better. The one contributes to the all, and all are one. Outside of materialism, it simply continues (though you have been asked about your microbe to man thing).
We already knew that is what happened but it is strange to have someone openly admit it.
Of course it's strange to you.

So the entire field of historical geology is invalidated because the scientific method does not allow for it?
Do you see anything wrong with your claim?
Also science doesnt do proof. That is for math and alcohol.

Historical geology is simply good Science Fiction.
And I've read a lot of the best Science Fiction there is.
No, Science Fiction cannot be invalidated.

Niether Rock nor Snowflakes have a standard intelligent language, nor a need for genes.

Both form from chemical reactions and physical reactions to already existing matter. Neither rock or snow/water dies, only reforms.

I don't think we both have the same definition of language.

I think she means that DNA requires language, not rocks or snowflakes.

But then, just as snowflakes and rocks are the results of basic, undirected, unintelligent chemical reactions, so is DNA.

I thought she was trying to state that their is a universal language. Ill reread the post to make sure.

I do understand that DNA is just a sequence of amino acids that code for proteins. Thank you though. :)

What the scientific community knows about ERVs far outweighs what you or your creationist buddies know.

How on earth is discussing ERVs and SNPs insulting or blasphemous

Don't walk into a biology classroom, the facts may make you angry...

Discussing ERVs or SNPs is not insulting or blasphemous. IF this were the only post that you or your scientific buddies ever posted I would have nothing to say right now but "I'm sorry, you are right... I was wrong to say that." BUT... we both know that is not the case. I was commenting on the WHOLE not just your particular post.

It would be great if that is all you and your scientific buddies did was discuss ERVs and SNPs but it seems you cannot avoid comments like above in ALL your posts. "What the scientific community knows about ERVs far outweighs what you or your creationist buddies know."

As far as I am concerned, What I know about God far out weighs ANYTHING you and your scientific buddies all together know about anything, but I don't say it to you over and over and over again, continually putting you down and calling you ignorant and evil and inane and all manner of ugly. The Bible says the FOOL has said in his heart there is no God but I don't call you a fool every time I post to you.

I just got a little tired of hearing it all.

Now you can just write in response... "And blah, blah, blah."

I might buy that if the post you blah-blah-blahed contained any of those things. Rather, it merely stated facts about ERVs. Hardly insidious or blasphemous.

Oh but I guess you didn't notice his lead in... well, I did!

IF evolution was true, what would we see that we DON'T see in the world around us?

Well, if evolution were true, we wouldn't see anything that we DON'T see in the world around us because it would take thousands or millions of years for it to happen and WE would no longer be around to see something new or that we DON'T already see in the world around us.

I know that sounds like a riddle but based on that question isn't that true? I'm not trying to be a wise guy. Maybe I am just NOT getting the question.

No. He is referring to things in genetics and fossil record among other things. Not observations of things happening in front of us.

You're getting the question -- but evolution doesn't have to take thousands or millions of years -- just a matter of generations.

Since there are plenty of creatures out there which go through generations quickly (insects come to mind), we can observe small-scale changes in pretty short order.

Now, if someone were to produce something that would prevent those small changes from adding up, we've yet to see it.

The post wasn't directed at you. It was directed at WretchedMan. Sure, you can have an opinion on the content, but you didn't. All you did was post a useless remark into a conversation that you weren't even in. All I was trying to do with that snide remark was mirror the level of sarcasm that WretchedMan has in his posts. I've had multiple interchanges with him -- and all of them included about that level of sarcasm from both of us. So please don't jump into a conversation just for the sake of saying "Blah blah blah" again, please.

You're right. I shouldn't have jumped in. It was more a mood thing than a point. I will certainly try to work on doing this again. Don't like it myself when I do stuff like that. Sorry.

If it only took a week and it proved your Bible wrong you would still not believe it, that I think is called "being delusional".
