You then 'clean up the mess', placing the books back on their shelves, but now you do it in alphabetical order, according to title.

Now, every time someone sees your bookcase in order -- according to title -- it will serve as a reminder of the bookcase having been tipped over by you.

Well, that's a bit of a stretch. Say I came over and saw the bookshelf arranged in alphabetical order by title. What evidence is there that they were ever arranged differently before, especially if I'd never been there prior? Why should I believe the books were ever arranged differently?
Kinda the same thing with the flood. How do I know it ever happened, seeing as there's no evidence and I "hadn't been there"?

That's the point I'm making.

You would have to know beforehand that the books were arranged by author first, before you know they were rearranged by title.

So the point I'm making is that the new arrangement is for the angels -- not for us.

In other words, it's the angels that see that the earth has been rearranged, not us; and this would deter them from repeating Genesis 6.

Going back to the bookcase analogy, the deterrent would come in the form of a reminder that the bookcase can (and was) tipped over at one time, spilling the books everywhere.
