  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you agree that christians should keep the 10 Commandments? (4)

The soul gains victory over sin's power in the flesh via the Cross

We are taught to live by faith in Christ, where we have complete forgiveness of sins and are made righteous by faith in the lord who loves us and wants to forgive us. We are lead by the written word and the Holy Spirit who helps us obey from the heart to flee fornication and other works of the flesh and also to love one another as Christ does by forgiving 70 times 7 every day and not judging or condemning each other. Isn't that the complete will of God for us?

Please help me understand. Have i added or taken away anything that doesn't belong in the will of God?

Yes David is noted as being a man after Gods own heart. But the Spirit did not come to indwell people until Christ. They still had to go to the temple to worship. We are the temple. Do you ever see David calling himself the temple of God?
Where did the law come from? Where does the Spirit come from? Is God in opposition to Himself? Is the Spirit only given after Christ? Why does the scriptures state that men where moved by the Spirit God.
2 Tim 3: 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

We will have sin in us until we are transformed. The law has no power over me at all. For I am not obligated to the law. I am blood bought and Spirit filled. Therefore is I sin I am not under the condemnation of the law because I was never under the law to begin with. For anything done without faith is sin. To do good and not do it is sin. To even be angry at my brother is sin. For if we walk in the fruit of the Spirit there is no law. Woo HOOO thank you Jesus..
How can you sin? There is no sin in you your context. You do not need Christ. Not at all. Christ came to call sinners to repentance, His own words. You have no need of Christ for you can not be a sinner, There is no law for you to violate. According to your theology, there can not sin after accepting Christ for when you accept Christ there is no law. Before accepting Christ to lie would be breaking the law but after accepting Christ there is no law. lying therefore is no more a violation for there is no law to violate.

2 Tim 3: 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
No the Spirit isn't in opposition to the law. That is the law doesn't make one sin in and of itself. Dwelling on thou shalt not lie, steal, covet, etc. does though. It is the way the carnal mind works and we simply can't help ourselves. so the law really doesn't lead to sin in itself that is telling one to sin.

The Spirit (God) won't lead one to sin either. But is certianly doesn't lead one back to what they were delivered from. Being the God the Father and God the Holy Spirit are both God, it doesn't make sense to deliver one and then command or lead them back to what they're delivered from.

I've quoted Isa 28:10 to show this many times - For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

There is not a more open statement to be found showing the process God is using. The same thing shows up in Paul's material - using one thing (the familiar) to build on showing a greater truth. Indeed Paul said something about secrets in Roman 11:25 - For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

And I like this one too 16:25 - Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began

There are more in his writings. And Peter calls or equates them as Scripture - II Pet 3:16.

1 John 2:2 answers your question. If we sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous.

I was not saved from sin, 1 John 2 clearly reveals that. If one is saved from sin then 1 John 2:2 makes no sense whatsoever.

What I was saved from is the penalty for sin.
And that penalty comes from the law.

I direct you to I Tim 1:9-10. Of course it is ony effective for the Christian because the tutor led them to Chirist where they got this righteosuness from as a very expensive gift which can't be earned or bought.

What would you classify abstinence from fornication, adultery and idolatry as? Is it OT law or NT doctrine?

How about Bible doctrine?

If one keeps their eyes on Jesus, that one will NOT commit adultery, fornicate, worship idols, etc., etc.

Basically, you are trying to put the cart before the horse. Do you believe that by focusing on NOT doing all these works of the flesh, you are going to please God? Rather, God says to "walk in the Spirit" and you WILL NOT fulfill the lusts of the flesh. "Set your affections on things above, not on things of the earth" Why? Because that is where Christ is and you have been raised with Him. (Col. 3:1-2)

Forgive me if you feel insulted, for I don't think to insult you, only opens the fact. But you are right and that is my motto, "what is written", or "what saith the Lord." Even there are always two ways of interpreting, which needs verification and cross check with other text.

I'm sorry, but you didn't answer my question.

The changing of our mortal body to the immortal holy body only happen to those who are qualified for heaven, those who are righteous in and out, who can present their own righteousness before God and the judgment, for there is no way for sin, sinners, imperfect character, unjust and who is not holy, to enter the gate of heaven (Revelation 22:11). you cannot and must not ignore this.

So, how is it that those who rely solely on Christ imputed righteousness may categorized in the truly righteous holy people, when in fact their righteousness is a credit fro Christ for they themselves having none of any righteousness what soever? They were just seen and accepted as they were righteous.
You can't get your own righteousness even if you try and follow after the law. The only righteousness that will save a man is Christs. If men could qualify for heaven then Christ would not have needed to come. Paul would not be preaching Christ and Him crucified. To enter the gate of Heaven is not through the law. There is only one gate. Jesus is the Gate. One must be born again.

That didn't answer the question. Would you say its NT doctrine, OT doctrine or both?

Do you mean they wont do those things by following Jesus teaching in the NT?

Im not putting the cart before the horse im talking about what Jesus and the apostles teach.

I would say there is a distinctive flavor unique to the NT/NC that have some similarities. After all there are only so many ways to describe stealing, lying, adultery, etc. Is there any new sin? Or are there just more avenues to pursue sin these days?

Re 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Yes I know the verse well. Now if I could just get you to comment on what that means. Which set of commandments do you suppose this refers to as found in John 15:10 - Jesus' commandments or His Father's commandments? What does the faith of Jesus mean to you? Are you just going to say nothing and get upset when I try and show what I think it means becuase you don't like it?

Well here is some more as I sit here and mull over what you asked.

Simply sin is sin without regard to which covenant it is in or what name it has on it.

The NC doesn't endorse sin.

Sin is whatever is not of faith. It doesn't necessarily answer the question either.
