  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Creationists, what do the worlds universities know that creationists don't?

Unless you can show me where in your Bible does it specifically state that the KJV is the final authority over the original text then I am afraid you will have some explaining to do at the pearly gates.
Right --

And I know you guys well enough to know that if there was a verse that said that, you guys would say it was placed there after the fact.

How would such a verse be worded, and where would it be found?

That's right -- what's your point?

You asked a different question, and I answered it.

I'm KJVO because other translations started showing up on bookshelves, and I have to take a stand.

That's what the KJVO movement is all about.

It's not so bad when other translations show up on bookshelves. It's the fact that they show up with omitted truth. I'm with you AV ... KJV is the best.

No sense trying to give them any common sense or try to explain what you mean, though. They ONLY WANT to argue. You can talk till you are blue in the face and they will argue JUST to argue. It's the nature of the beast. ;) That's why they are here. So sad. Such a waste of a life.:o

What did you expect in the land where everything is for sale including God? They have no shame to peddle their beliefs so what did you expect?

Here he agrees with you??? And then later he disagrees... go figure!! More evidence of just wanting to argue!! Obvously no life here!!

Should I remind you that Jesus himself commanded that we keep to the scriptures and not alter even an iota?

Should "he" remind "you".... :D:D:D:D:D

If you ask me; I like the KJV. it is very well written and not forgetting the Greek Bible which is still in the original classical Greek language.

He agrees with you again!!?????

I do place It above the original texts -- but only if It differs from the original texts.

That's not what God said.

Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

We're taught to shun the classical Greek -- it's full of error.

It's the Koine Greek that the KJV comes from.

AV would you mind explaining what you mean by you place it "above" the original texts. I think you mean that the original text was translated into classical Greek but the original text was not "originally" classical Greek. :D:D:D This even sounds funny trying to explain it. Maybe you could make it a little clearer for me.

Hi, sis --

Yes, the autographs were translated into what we call the "originals"; but over time, the originals were translated into Classical Greek.

It's the Classical Greek manuscripts, not the Koine Greek manuscripts, that I'm referring to.

:)

Thanks. :) Two questions: What are the autographs and where does the Koine Greek come into play?

The autographs are the books of the Bible, written by the original author in his own handwriting.

When you sign your name, it is called your signature, but it is also called your autograph, which is anything you produce in your own handwriting.

Koine Greek is the Greek of the common people, and it is the style of Greek writing that the New Testament was written in.

(Koine means "common", and the Koine are the common people.)

Mark 12:37b And the common people heard him gladly.

The King James Bible came from the Koine Greek, whereas all other translations come from the Classical Greek.
