I think Matthew 15 is the one being referenced to, where Jesus calls the Pharisees hypocrites for allowing tradition to get in the way of God's commandments. The specific commandment he brings up is the one from Deuteronomy that says that disobedient children must be stoned to death.

This says nothing about children it simply say "he" children are not held accountable for sin until the age of accountability which only God knows and we speculate about...since a child is not accountable for his/her sin they are not subjected to the law...so this verse is taken out of context...hope that helps also very impressed with your knowledge of the bible.

Don't be that impressed, or if you are, be impressed by my search engine skills. I know that Jesus wasn't directly referring to babies, I just thought I'd point out the verse I think was being referred to. Although in Revelations 2 (another search result) Jesus does say he will kill Jezebel's children. Not sure what age they were going to be when he did though.

Actually, apparently Jesus never said that. It doesn't exist in the earliest manuscripts, so it was a later addition.

That would be all well and good if in fact the gospels were harmonius. If you've never done a side by side comparison of events, you might be surprised how incongruous the accounts really are.

Hell isn't a word used in Aramaic/Hebrew so we should break it down since was used for 5 different places. Christ spoke of Hades(grave) and Gehenna in his parables. Gehenna was a valley outside of Jerusalem that was a garbage dump. A nasty place where Leppers hung out til they died or were healed. The bodies of the poor and criminals were thrown there and it smoldered day and night and worms did live.
This place called the Gehenna Valley flows southeast of the city of David and pours down into the Lake of Fire, a.k.a Dead Sea, Rev 20:14 . This place had a sad history long ago when Israelites sacrificed their children there to BAAL(satan).

Hell comes from the Saxon word Hellan meaning "to cover" and was used to mean the ground by old English folk. So in that sense all of us are going to Hell, lest you be cremated and then it may take longer to get there.


It is my belief that Yeshua was with God the Father in the beginning before the foundation of the world and they chose some that would believe(predestined) Eph 1. Now if they only chose some then there are those that just won't be chosen.

Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

There was nothing about us that decided the outcome.
It was more like a Lot or just chance of the draw.
The reason he chose some was simply "That his name be glorified on Earth." That is our mission.

Some are to be our adversaries that we may learn and grow and they will be astounded by the things we do for the sake of our faith. Satan was the first adversary. He is doing what he was created to do, that old bum, The Lord rebuke thee.



The scripture has to be studied in depth to rightfully divide the word as it's called. The scripture proves itself once you get beyond surface and ye must take a glimpse at the original text.

Hades is the name of the ancient Greek God of the underworld and his name means "The common place" or "The place where everyone goes to after death". The concept of Hell as a place of eternal torment and fire and brimstone is a concept that appeared later in history.

Well, my position that I make clear is as follows:

If the traditional Christian one (OT is true, hell is real) is the real one, and he offers me a spot into his heaven, then I hope I have the integrity on that day to turn him down based on the idea that I would rather rot in hell then spend a minute worshiping an evil tyrant like him.

People are born separated from God. They don't separate themselves from God.

Hi Mark. Haven't seen you in a while. Neither have I seen you express quite this before, and it does add to the picture. The idea of being born with original sin is a modern addition, not what the Apostles taught. We do separate ourselves from God. He also reaches out to every individual personally, and we have to reject that to remain separated from Him. Not sure how any of this info would factor in were you to consider it, but there it is.

Well in reality either option will be a torture in their own way. Sure in heaven I can enjoy spa's or hunting or side-effect-free-opium or whatever it is they do up there, but no matter how much time passes, it will always linger in my mind that I chose not to stand up against the greatest evil conceivable for selfish gains, that I am nothing but an amoral hedonist - and somehow I think that will really eat me out.

You are absolutely right; if you can't learn to Love G-d here in this life, heaven would be torture for you. In fact the Orthodox version of hell is exactly that!
