What is a "Kind"?

This definition of "kind" seems to pose a particular problem for the biblical account of Noah's ark.  You see, there are on the order of 10 million terrestrial species on the Earth.

Does that 10 million number include both the above-ground and below-ground mosquitos in London? Or do we count those as one species because they hadn't "speciated" at the time of Noah? Just curious, since it would save some space on the ark if the latter were true.

Actually I believe that there were only about 1000 "kinds" on the ark, and that they hyper-evolved into 10 million species in the last 4000 years. Except the birds. The doves hyperevolved from the dinosaur kind while still on the ark. The archaeopteryx bones were dumped in Germany on the way back to Ararat. The marsupial "kind" was dropped off on a raft as they passed over Australia. All in all, there can be no doubt that the ark circumnavigated the globe a few times before the waters receded.

if there is a line that "micro-evolution" cannot cross and become "macro-evolution" there must be a way to define a Biblical "kind".

Please define a "kind" here so that we may know where the boundry is and test it.

IOW, since "kind" has no definition, whenever creationists use it, we can dismiss them for spouting nonsense.
You could -- but then you'll spend the rest of your life scratching your head and wondering how God orchestrated the Flood.

Not understanding things (or desiring to) has always been a prerequisite for magical thinking.
And no one thinks 'magic', when it's actually a 'miracle', than you guys, eh?

If you'd prefer I call it "miraculous thinking," I'd gladly do so instead.

it might actually be a more appropriate title, since it would arguably be a miracle if you ever contribututed anything of value via the process.

Why you brought back this dead thread just so you could re-hash your useless non-defintion of what a "kind" is, is beyond me.

You could -- but then you'll spend the rest of your life scratching your head and wondering how God orchestrated the Flood.
F.Y.I. We don't wonder about things that clearly did not happen. We only wonder how people like you firmly believe they did happen. ;)

I suspect it's because as AV clearly has nothing to glorify himself with, he wants another go at glorifying himself with "nothing."

Because believing these things gives them a feeling of superiority over those who don't -- surely you know this already.

Is that your definition of 'faith'?

It's called 'faith' = believing something when science says otherwise.

It's one thing to believe in something at the cost of acknowledging reality, but to not even concede to reality for the sake of argument, so you can understand what your opposition is actually saying, leaves one wondering why you insist on holding posting in a science-oriented sub-forum.

After all, there are threads like "Let's suppose there is a God" and "Let's suppose evolution isn't true". The least you can do is return the favor like a grown adult or simply leave.

I mean, if you come to a science-oriented sub-forum just to iterate your beliefs, knowing you don't plan on learning anything whatsoever or maintaining a coherent discussion, then what separates you from a troll other than your post count?

I mean, what else is the point in repeatedly mentioning thalidomide, Pluto, and the Challenger when these are things that have been explained to you countless times?

Maybe instead of just ignoring what "science says", you could try understanding what "science says" before telling it to take a hike.
