  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Impreccable proof for the Biblical Flood

You think the Titanic's marketing is included in science?
I don't know about then -- (it probably was) -- but I would say: not now, it isn't.
No, clearly not. But you can't claim the "majority" green-lighted Thalidomide when the US didn't, which is a very large market for medical science (52% of the world market for pharmaceuticals, actually).
In the late '50s and early '60s?

And according to Wikipedia, the U.S. tried to get what's-her-name to acquiesce.
Also, Thalidomide is a useful drug for people with multiple myeloma.
Well good -- I'm glad.

I'm sure some people would clap about that -- (if they could).
It is just also teratogenic (harmful to developing embryos).
I don't need an 11-letter word to see that it was 'harmful to embryos' -- I can look at the pictures.
Acne creams are also teratogenic, so why don't you add that do the list of science's grievances?
Because I'd rather go without zits, than go without arms.
You reap the benefits of science but refuse to pay it respect.
Oh, my -- you knew this was coming, didn't you?

We should call up the widows of the astronauts and see how they feel about you using the death of their loved ones as a weapon.
Ya, that's real cute, isn't it?

How about we call those in Hell too and see how many put their faith in science, instead of God? while we're at it?
You're no better than 9/11 truthers.
And who [probably] encouraged those guys to act on us, by the way? at least on the Internet?

Do you suppose the same types that encourage us to hunt witches to avoid being a 'hypocrite'?

The majority of scientists gave Thalidomide the green light.

The majority of scientists gave the Challenger the green light.

The majority of scientists gave Pluto a downgrade.

Noah built the Ark; scientists built the Titanic.

I thought you'd given up playing your "I'm an idiot" joker card.

I should have known better.

Wow. Did they get all those scientists to look over challenger and did they all say things like "As a Proctologist I don't know anything about spaceships, but hey, I say launch this puppy! Anyway where do you stick your finger in this thing?"

I was not aware that NASA worked that way these days :p

The majority of people thought the Titanic was 'unsinkable'.

Actually a countryman of mine is currently building a full-scale model of Noah's ark, as meticulously described in the Bible. He has already built a 1/2 scale model which is currently being used as a bible-museum ship.

He is using modern wood varieties, not the tree described in the Bible, which seems to be less suitable.

He had to build it on a steel hull as there was no way to build even a 1/2 scale model out of wood without it collapsing under it's own weight.

Yup. That's it AV. It must be because of people on internet forums that 9/11 happened. Just like it is the fault of "science" that people are fallible.

Aw, isn't that cute. You think because you can count it gives you some sort of authority or something.

Cool. Do you have a reference? Or at least a name?

So since I don't have a million posts, I'm a troll? Is that what you're saying?
Let me give you an example:

Nathan Poe currently has 29,645 posts.

Would you ever say to someone with that many posts that he never said [this] or said [that] ?

Yeah, cause it's so hard to so your lack of respect for science AV. No one has to read every post you have written to see the contempt you hold for anything that contradicts what you happen to believe. Heck, how many of your anti science rants are on FSTDT?

Fascinating! They always taught us in Sunday school that the proportions of the Ark outlined in Genesis were so perfect, modern architects use the same proportions in designing ocean liners.

No no no, the other way around. Trolls post a lot of crap to try to get people to respond to them, and they're best dealt with by ignoring them. Unless you think something good will come of engaging AV1611VET in conversation...

I don't even know what you said here.

They don't know what I believe -- I'm everything but what's in my profile.

They just automatically assume what I say is wrong.

I've seen them disagree with me, even when what I'm saying is in agreement with what they're saying.
Heck, how many of your anti science rants are on FSTDT?
I don't know -- how many? how many of my pro-science posts are on there?

Haha ok I hear ya. Yeah, nothing good comes from conversing with AV. Except the aforementioned lulz and FSTDT archive.
