Well a few decades ago it would have been Christians. Christian Fundamentalism derives from the meetings held in the last quarter of the 1800s called the 'Viagra Bible Conference'.

But the US supported Islamic Fundamentalism to resist Soviet forces in Central Asia and other areas so now there is a second major form of Fundamentalism and in a strange twist of fate they may now become as inconvenient as the Soviets were back then.

There are Fundamentalists of every variety, but the big ones are the Christian and Islamic Fundamentalists he probably means one of those.

God didn't create the plants, or the animals of the sea, or the animals of the land. He told the sea and the land to bring them forth, which fits in with evolutionary theory.

This is false. You are confusing scientists with peer-reviewed science papers. 0.01% of these papers are creationist, but there are thousands of scientists who believe in creation or don't believe in evolution.

When you publish a paper though which promotes creationism, you loose your job so most scientists don't do this.

Science is not a living thing therefore it cannot accept or deny anything. Why would a scientific theory mention Jesus exactly? Jesus is completely superfluous to science and a giant red herring of an argument.

Ah, but if a man uses a saw to cut a piece of wood, don't we say that the man cut the wood? We don't say, "The man caused to saw to cut the wood."

it is perfectly reasonable to say, "X did such-a-thing" even if we mean, "X used a tool to produce a particular outcome."

Doesn't matter if X is a man and the tool is a saw and the outcome is a cut piece of wood, or if X is God, the tool is evolution by natural selection and the outcome is life.

So, biblically, when it says that the Earth brought forth the grasses and the tree and all the other plants, I choose to take that as meaning that God set into motion the process of biological evolution and he used that as a tool (if I had to take the Bible as an accurate account, that is).

And I don't see how you can say otherwise. After all, the King James Bible is perfectly capable of stating when God is making something himself, as it does in Genesis 1:16 when it says that God himself made the two lights.

Now, shouldn't you read that and ask why it describes the creation of living things one way, and the creation of non-living things another way? There must be a reason, yes? Maybe because the Bible is trying to tell you that God created the non-living things directly, and yet created the living things using a process.

I think this satisfies amply your request for a Biblical justification for evolution.

So much for plants being created three days before man too. The same chapter describes God forming Adam's body out of clay like a potter, it even uses the same word as potter yatsar. The thing is, the bible also says God is the potter who formed you and me. Isaiah 64:8 But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand. But there is no contradiction between that and the natural processes involved in our conception and birth.

Actually, so much for the earth being responsible for the evolution of plants since God had already created them before he placed them in the Earth.

He only commanded the Earth to bring forth the plants he already created. Kinda like when we plant a seed, the Earth doesn't create the seed, it brings the plant or seed forth.
