• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

how old were you when you started sk8?
Thank you taking interest :) White. - i was chronologically 48 :)
(with 9.5 toes in the grave), when i laced-up my 1st. skates.
AND (from the grave) via iceskating God saved me & helped me recover

This is another, of 100's of miracle-stories (as some I already have here shared),
this time the miracle is about LITTLE  'me' and so,
as you might understand ;) I am especially fond of it.

I LOVE playing a part in  miracles, and what about you? ;)

I care about your ice skating...don't ever feel like you can't talk about it.
Thanks so much Annie. And truth be told, I share here...in your thread,
because (since God helped resuscitate  me, via my skating), I'm hopefull
that you dear sister will draw strength... from these stories, as God's Blessing to you, do you know what ;) I mean?

I used to love to ice skate.
Really? - wow! so you have 1st-hand/foot :D experience in our magnificent  sport.

Of course, now in my position it will never be a possibility
I used to think that too. - but Remember: "in GOD  we can do ALL things"

but I do love to watch it, and it is always amazing and graceful.
I have presently, only 1-2 moves I can honestly say are to some extent graceful, &
to wit: they are Beginner-moves, yet - But as well
the fact, that I'm even practicing ON the ice..., is nothing short of amazing  ! as
family & Skating-friends can tell you. - Would you enjoy... knowing more?

i have always wanted
to learn to skate . skating is so beautiful.
Hi sister, I understand :) I too wanted to learn to skate,
for 35 l.o.n.g. years, before God finally got my Attention! ^_^ as only He knows how.
so
about a year later, He popped the question: Hi :wave:Annie,
how much? do you still wanna learn to skate...
because in due time, I'll be calling you HOME, so this is your ;)chance" - I took it, & I am soo glad  THANKS, Jesus.

Now, what about you? - if I can skate, most assuredly, you can too

girl, id fall down!
Yup, aka as the 'F :o e  A
confused.gif
r factor'; it bites us all. We stare that thing down, all the time.
Even so, most don't even start. (or, like so many of us skaters,
we get a hang-up ^_^ about some move (like my FXO's )
I'm embarassed to admit, especially since their test I already passed :D)

But, when you 1st. learned to WALK ;), or whatever,
most likely that was scarry as heck too, but Notice you didn't  let that Stop you. Nope.
You kept right on going, 'til one fine day! - eureka!! you DID it, and
you were so justly  proud!!!
- Skating is no different, I assure you.
~~ and
for the few weeks I had a coach
(I wasn't ready then), when I'd splat, in extending her hand she'd say:
"Nothing broken? - Ok, it never ;) happened. Let's move..." <-- cracks me UP to this day :D

The point is, pretty soon you once again have the Child-attitude re 'falling? oh never mind' :), as you FOCUS on skating it successfully...

id hardly be up on those things! but you are right,
if i kept at it
id probably be able to stand without falling
Hi sister,
Lemme know if you want me to stop (lol) 'cause
I'll just keep goin' & goin' on, & on forevu... :D - and see,
re this 'Standing, without fallin'. - At 1st, that is like major.
Students say to teacher: You want me to stand UP  & some coaches'll wink, &
say: Right on! - I don't expect a Spin, or an Axel ;) yet lol
~~ then
with practice, one of 2million :) things you learn, is
with SPEED, everything comes easier...
such that you don't wanna hesitate, & stand no more. You wanna MOVE... and
all this comes incrementally...a little here, some there.
Pretty soon,
standingUP... on yer (fillet-knife-edged) skate-blades ^_^ is a skill you can do, in yer sleep....
sweetdream.gif
practically.

Speaking of sleep/dreams=Mine are the Best!! - yeah,
'cause I get to be the Ornament :) about 8 feet off the ice,
in a 1-hand overhead Star-lift... & Pair-spirals, & other Pair-moves
I pray with all my heart, for this reality for my  Sweety & me, in PRAISE of God...

Nighty-night! Sweet ... dreams, everyone
.

Hi Odaat
Hopefully you slept  peacefully. - (this can be particularly hard :( under the influence of

any serotonin–norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) used for major depressive disorder, & fibromyalgia,
because both serotonin & norepinephrine are necessary for your brain to function properly, including therefore SLEEP.
The current buzz/research-drug in that group is Savella® (milnacipran) (a 3:1 norepinephrine to serotonin balance).
FDA approved that drug a year ago, & aside severe nausea, & shaking hands, the side-effect that makes it unbearable for most people is falling-asleep fine, but can't seem to stay asleep - waking up all night long.
Caution: how the drug works is unknown.) Currently, they also experiment with CBT=Behavioral therapy.

sounds like fun.
i should take lessons and go skating in central park next winter :^)
Hi White,
thru the :: ICE SKATING INSTITUTE ::, you can take Group-lessons, most people start this way, for
the least $ amt. usually $70 for 6-8 weekly lessons, 1/2 hour in length. There are 5 courses (Adult-beginner,
Alpha, Beta, Gamma & Delta) after which you skate at figure-skating/FS-levels, iow spins & jumps etc.

Everybody have a nice weekend! - Snow should be gone by Monday, eh Susie ;)

Thanks everyone for your prayers! I actually got 4 hours without waking up!! To me that was wonderful. I did wake up off and on after that but that was ok. But tonight I have to take the medicine so we will see what will happen.

Annie....it's interesting what you are saying about the Savella...since that is what I am taking. But I don't take it at night...my first pill is when I get up and last pill around 3...I do want to say I am so far pleased with it...It has given me more energy and I'm enjoying that! :D

As far as ice-skating goes.....I used to skate for hours on end everyday. I grew up in northern MN so as soon as the river froze we were skating! Loved it...I could do some things but never brave enough to jump high! :D

I can't skate anymore because of my back being fused and my pelvis no longer moves..plus I can never take a risk of falling.

That is neat ODAAT, I tried to ice skate once, LOL, the floor and I became great companions.

I am so glad you got some rest by the way, I was praying for you, I bet you feel better.

I love that picture sirender, it sure looks like they are having fun.

Well, it is 12 out right now, but, I am inside warm and cozy. Guess I will do a few things.

Hugs to all
