  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is there ANY solid creation evidence?

Well, that would be as start to get on topic. How about you start 3 threads about all these points? Please also provide the evidence too.
I'll get right on it -- qv please: 202

I'm almost certain that if a potential child of God was here reading these posts in PL&S and C&E, and see how the Bible, basic theology, and suppositions get vegomaticked, that they would hesitate.

Like I told my wife -- I wouldn't want to see anyone, including my pastor, who has two doctorates, go through what I and others go through here.

I've seen brothers and sisters come here, only to get [favorite word] vegomaticked [/favorite word] by you guys and leave frustrated.

It certainly doesn't help that creationism doesn't stand up to the slightest amount of scrutiny. I think most of us here that aren't Christians really just wish to open peoples' eyes to the facts regarding evolution, and not convert everyone into atheists. I personally push for a more liberal Christianity that is more based on reason, because then secularists and Christians would be able to work better together to work toward fixing problems in society. The anti-science that is creationism, alongside the rigid fundamentalism, drives a wedge between us.

What do you call what I do between my counting posts? poetry?

You want to see some of my examples of 'creative writing'?

Ask me where I think Noah lived before the Flood, or where the water went after the Flood (and why it went there), or why oil is found in the earth.

I'll show you some creative writing -- ;)

I would love to read those stories, personally. You should write a book.

It was a criticism not a compliment. It's difficult to know what to say to someone who views a demonstration of their own stupidity as a victory.

Well, they can always make a sock puppet and talk to themselves -- can't they?

Why? you just said they might turn some potentials away.

Or are you above being turned off, yourself?

I just think that your musings would be interesting. And I'll leave it at that.

As it should.

I don't understand the willful ignorance or the divisive mentality you espouse. But it's nice to see you slap the hand of someone who is just asking that we all get along

That is the problem in SA, the problem in Iraq, the problem with the Taliban and the problem with you.

Yes, you are all weaved out of the same abrahamic fundamentalist belief system where you portray hatred as your first and foremost emotion against all others and even reality itself as known in todays world.

I'd pity you if you were worth pitying, as it stands, you are not.

I don't particularly care for your mindset, to be honest.

It smacks of persecution.
Creationism breeds ignorance by design, they fill the heads of their children with rubbish and keep their children ignorant of science, I don't like that and I suspect any right thinking person feels the same, you call that being persecuted because it suits you to think that way.

I don't think you would feel I was being persecuted if I lived in squalor that caused disease? why should creationists be free to deliberately raise their children to be ignorant?

In my opinion when people think they have the right to deliberately undermine the society they live in for their own ends they must be stopped.

But hey, it's not my society creationists are undermining so it's up to their fellow Americans to stop them,
I'm just throwing my 2 pence out there.

You need to study what Jesus taught then, eh?

Love for God, love for neighbor, love your enemies, pray for those who wrong you.

But, no -- what do you want?

You want a more liberal Christianity, because Christians happen to believe in a literal Genesis 1 as well?

It sounds to me like you're saying that fundamental Christians and liberal Christians cannot walk together, until fundamental Christians drop their basic theology and accept evolution -- and do it without exception.

Well, for the record, I don't bow to scientism and let the latest paradigms dictate how I'm supposed to interpret God's Word.

I'm not a mutant copy-error made in the image and likeness of God; I'm not a Homo sapiens, since I was born with the Adamic nature; and I believe that the Flood was global.

If that's too rigid as far as what science says I am, that's too bad.

Ya, that's real cute -- and if you want to play that game, I can play it too, with a simple question for atheists:

Israel is called the Promised Land; if God doesn't exist, who promised Israel to the Jews?

If you think atheism doesn't teach [prescient or closet] anti-Zionism, I've got a bridge for sale.

If you think that's true, I'll pit your science knowledge against Lucaspa's and Arunma's any day.

And even if you did perchance know more, I'm sure they'd make your point here look nebulous.

And again, you can harp on science all you want, but when you use run-on sentences and poor punctuation to do it -- (of which I am also guilty) -- you make yourself look bad.

In my opinion.

You can impress me with E=mc[sup]2[/sup] all you want, but don't tell me I need to know it too.

I don't need to know gravity = Gm[sub]1[/sub]m[sub]2[/sub]/r[sup]2[/sup] to be a cab driver.

A Hebrew book written by Hebrews for Hebrews - and their enemies - I'd say that the Jews promised Israel to the Jews.

Got any hard questions?

I know that you're not going to change. My point was not that fundamentalist Christians and liberal Christians can't walk side by side. They can - and do. I'm talking about the relationship between fundamentalists and secularists. We bring discourse to the table and want to discuss things so that society can continue to progress, but you guys don't seem to care or want to cooperate with us. That's the problem - you think you're right and everyone else is wrong. There is no room for error in your theology, and no room for adjustment or improvement. So why even have conversations with people who think differently than you? You've got all the answers!

You worship the Bible over God, AV. And that's why you'll never get along with anyone outside your small denomination. Because beliefs about God can evolve, but a literal interpretation of the Bible cannot.
