  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Praise His Name Forever

God is not finished, and what He said He will do He will fulfill on His promises. Psalms 83, Ezekiel 38-39, etc... are the Holy One's Word. Damascus will be destroyed, Moab, Edom, Egypt, etc will incure the wrath as written. God does NOT figuratively refer to these events as some will lead you to believe. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked.

In Christ's Love

Exactly. That's what I don't get about the preterist movement. They spend 99% of the focus on Revelation. There is MUCH of the old Testament that has not been fulfilled and could not possibly be explained away by Roman history or just "spiritualized away". Damascus is the oldest continual city in the world, period. Yet the Old Testament says it will be destroyed. Egypt will be become a nation completely worshiping The Lord with sacrifice and oblation. The Gog/Magog confederation will be invade Israel and be stopped by God Himself and their own soldiers attacking each other. When did all this happen??? You basically have to throw out about 20-25% of the Old Testament.

Obadiah 1:18And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.

The descendants of Esau are alive and well in the West Bank. I guess we chuck that chapter out as well??

Dearest brother in Christ

I stand guilty as charged, and am humbled by my error in improperly 'mixing' figurative and literal translations on the issue of 'horses'. You are absolutely correct as I went back to research the Greek and the word is hippo, which is horse. Forgive me as I confess the error of wandering. I am bettered in my understanding through this debate, and owe you gratitude for pointing out and making me aware of my error.

It is puzzling to me how this error of mine is caused by interpreting literal word(s) into figurative, but a literal two thousand thousand can be assumed to be a figure of speech. Does not the same rationale apply? Or what about a third of the earth? Or a drying up of a major river that was the source of life to those in the region in those days. After all, there are no recorded instances of an actual drying up of that major river are there? I know the river had been diverted to enable the overthrow of Babylon when the enemy came under the city walls. Dried up? Why are you dismissing it in favor of other NT scripture? We certainly cannot just arbitrarily discard it.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

The scriptures cited earlier concerning God's covenant promise to Abram, and the destruction of the city of Damascus and fortified cities of Israel with the aftermath still needs further consideration. These certainly are not figurative scriptures, or do you disagree with that as well?

We all need to grow in our understanding, and I am certainly humbled when made aware of interpretational errors.

I am greatly impressed by your humility. It is a true blessing. Another thing to consider is that the army of the 5th trumpet is not a human one. Reading their description, it is a pretty supernatural creature being described. Not to mention that they ascend from the bottomless pit. I know the common explanation is to see it as China, but that does not really jive with the text. Just something to consider. God bless.

Thank you for your kind words. I will certainly delve deeper and ask the Holy Spirit's guidance in what is beneficial to my understanding of these verses. Although we all have differing views and interpretations concerning this deepest and richest treasure of God's very Word, we all aim to find truth and understanding. With open hearts and minds may we all attain the next spiritual pearl, or ruby, or diamond together.

May the Lord Bless You Abundantly

VERDICT: False Prediction

The Tribulation did not start in 2010, not by any visible indications anyway.

I was thinking the tribulation does not become visible until the 6th seal . but in relation to this year i kept seeing a sign . so maybe something has begun . but not that 7 year thing people keep talking about .

This first evening of fellowship with you has been a true blessing. I am grateful for the opportunity. I have to depart now, as work calls. May the Lord watch over you and keep you close to His bosom throughout the day. Blessed are all of you that call upon the name of the Lord.

Many believe the a/c gave his first public interview on a major network in the usa, namely the colbert report. Something like 1/11/2010.

And of course all the inexplicable star signs in the sky....

hmm resonance seems very zappy, i would say it is disconnected from the head .. and floating somewhere .

but generally responding to what you're inferring, since racism is a huge problem in the US, i think identifying anyone beyond carnal distinctions will be really difficult for you as a people .

Happy New Year Acts6:5. I hope all is well with you and yours :) We are still hanging in there by Gods grace, but it has sure been a financial/medical struggle this past year. Hubby has been in the hospital 2 times this past year, and going in again the 13th for a second stent in his heart. He had to have one put in his upper thigh also. Like the song says, "through it all, I have learned to trust in Jesus. I have learned to trust in God". You always think you are trusting in God until you REALLY have to trust in Him. I just had to LET GO, AND LET GOD.
I just had to pop in and see the names of the candidates for "possible stoning" from 2010 lol!!!! I'm sure that some have probably thought that Big Mouth Nana went "home" (or hoped) since I haven't been on here lol!!! I just can't cut this site anymore after so many years. All the topics and posts just started to blend together. There is nothing new prophetic going to happen that isn't in the bible, or hasn't been revealed or will be revealed...no matter how hard people try to usher in Christs return ;)
Well brother, take care and be a diligent watchman....Karla

My dear brother, I do not see in color. I realize that Mr Patel is of asian descent, but it in no way causes me to view him in that perspective.

I do however disagree with his ideaolgy, which is very new age.we are not gods, and jesus was much more than an activist who was pepper sprayed for his politics. Also, I do not believe their can be peace and unity in this world so long as the adversary is looming amongst us. However, if this adversary himself is to come amongst us and creates such peace and security, posing as a man, and then being proclaimed as messiah, I do KNOW than many of my brothers and sisters will be deceived into believing such.

A few comments;
1. We need to read these matters the way the Hebrews read them. Agreed? How would they have received them and understood them?

2. To do this, we need to check how the language is used. Do the Hebrews say one thing but mean another, just as we don't literally mean 'sunrise' but mean another rotation of the earth? In other words, how figurative are the actual expressions being used, and do they actually signify something else?

EG: God owns the cattle on 1000 hills. Is that literal? Really? Does God not also own all the cattle on the other gazillion hills on this planet? If translated into the rough usage of the English, would this verse be better translated "God owns the cattle on a gazillion hills?" Would Peter be better translated, "With the Lord a day is like a gazillion years, and a gazillion years is like a day?" Would Rev 20 read better "The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a gazillion years."

3. After we have checked the biblical Old Testament context for where they are in the unfolding plan of God, and after we have checked other common usages of certain symbols or expressions in the Hebrew, we then need to check whether or not Jesus and the Apostles have fulfilled or 'spiritualised' some of these matters.

That is all for now. Us Amils seem to be outnumbered here

.

I'm feeling a bit swamped by the number of OT verses being thrown at me.
fighting-230.gif

I simply don't have the time to respond to all of them, in all the threads. Could all you futurists please have a discussion about the most relevant, most persuasive OT verses and get back to me with maybe your top 3 passages? Maybe start a new thread on "OT prophecies that prove futurism" or something.

well, people will be decieved because it is written of them

and those who are saved because it is written of them in Heaven

so .. it is important to act in knowledge of the times we are living in, but to never let the paranoia of the masses to grip us . we are not to be like them .

Did you know that in 1860, the final antichrist was Louis Napoleon, and that the Second Coming was predicted for 1868?

Then some people saw sense and altered their calculations to make it 1874.

Such is the foolishness of literalism.
