• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How the Ark was ventilated.

What's wrong? is the earth too tidy? did God do too thorough a job?
Nope. The earth is too untidy, untidied by events that, according to you, never happened, but were the result of "God cleaning up".

Just a thought before I log off for tonight:
If there's no evidence for a global flood of any kind, then how is it several cultures had similar flood stories without having come into contact with each other.

Also please don't get started on fossils and whatnot. I mean, do we really wanna open that can of worms?
Oh and don't think I'm actually going to respond if you start quoting me, either.

Because floods are a pretty common occurrence? Just a thought.

And the fossil record, neatly sorted from primitive animals through to more modern animals, eliominates the idea of a global flood.
Here we go again.

I'll say this again: not if God cleaned things up.

1 Corinthians 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

What's wrong? is the earth too tidy? did God do too thorough a job?

How about you guys make up my mind, eh?

Not really, although it does seem that people have to remind you of your own claims quite often.
Ya -- I know -- I call it the merry-go-round.

If you think I contradict myself or seem to be forgetting my own claims, let me know; eh?

And I've only been agreeing with this for -- what now? -- going on 5 years?

I've even stated that I agree with you guys over what my pastor says.

Agree with us? You don't agree with us. You try to claim some un-evidenced pap about the universe having age without history. Completely ignoring the fact that what we are measuring to determine age IS HISTORY.

Do you now?

What is it? a computer program or something?

Or something.

Nice -- if I were to say that, you guys would start yakking about 'you cant prove a negative'.

That is because you seem unable to grasp the difference between "Proving a negative" and "Evidence something else happened with contradicts".

Okay, show me this evidence -- (and I want it to be evidence that there was no global flood, too).

Why? So you can dismiss it out of hand yet again? I'll pass. Smarter men then I have tried to reason with you and failed. I doubt I will have better success. If your really curious the information is readily available. Search it out.

As my apple challenge shows -- you wouldn't even know where to begin to look.

Not only that, you can't even hypothetically think up something that would pass for evidence.

Until you answer my apple challenge -- neither are you.

Funny thing AV. If you read through your challenge you will see that I agree with you. In your hypothetical we would not even know what evidence to look for.

The problem you consistently fail to address is that the universe does not mirror your hypothetical. We have evidence that DIRECTLY CONTRADICTS YOUR CLAIMS. You keep trying to hand wave it away by referring to a flawed hypothetical question. You seem to have a hard time grasping that your question does not get rid of the evidence we do have.

That's right.

Quite unlike my apple challenge, where the shoe is on the other foot, and you guys like to accuse the OP of being bogus, instead of admitting myopia.

It is a hypothetical question AV. You can keep dancing but no matter how hard you tap it will only reflect your prejudices. You can't address the reality of the evidence so you create a fake scenario to try to hand wave it away.

My promise stands.

If it was 'so much dross', it would have been pwned by now.

How would you know if it has been pwned or not since no evidence of contradiction is allowed? All you have are guesses and shadows AV.

Maturity with history, Belk -- maturity without history.

embedded age = maturity without history

Well golly AV! That little word game makes so much difference since the point is that when we measure the age of an object we measure it's HISTORY.

And therein is your blindspot.

You cannot measure the history of the earth on the day it was created, because the earth had no history.

Therefore, the Earth had no maturity. Therefore, no age.

let the Creationist special pleading commence!

There are actually people who believe in this tale? Literally?

I find that surprising. It is of course completely impossible on so many levels but since i'm a biochemist i'll start with inbreeding. Two of each animal? Is it really unknown that genetic variation is needed and that inbreeding eventually causes extinction?

It won't work. Nothing you say will convince anyone who believes in Ye Arke.

I find that saddening.

Yet i only touched on one of the things that makes it impossible, the first and most clear thing would of course be that the size of such a boat would have to be so great that it would be impossible to build it even today with todays technology. Not even the biggest of todays ships would even come close.

Yes -- including the One Who died on one of those things that's on your flag there.
