• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's not a false statement, and liberals need to be goaded about their ridiculous stereotypical thinking. They don't just get to frame issues in their own terms unchallenged.

Ridiculous stereotypical thinking? Liberals aren't allowed to frame issues in their own terms? I'm sensing a bit of hypocrisy here. Some conservatives have been framing issues in their own terms in their own rhetoric: they have - for example - reserved for themselves (and themselves alone) words like 'patriot', 'pro-American', 'freedom-loving' and the like. Following this, any conservative opinion is held to be patriotic, pro-American and freedom-loving. Don't tell me that this isn't an example of conservatives framing issues in their own terms (and framing their opponents in their own terms also).

Or because they recognize the REAL threat to America: Liberalism. Maybe you should face your own internal divisions and leave conservativism to those who understand it.
I'm sure they think liberalism is the real threat to America, and I'm equally sure those who finance them are more than happy to keep them believing that.

I woud have greater respect for your views if you weren't so strident. Gays, just as everyone else, are fully competent to make decisions for themselves. I have a lot of gay friends and family members, and most are quite conservative. There are, for them, other considerations than what you think they should be obsessed with.

"Some of my best friends are gay..."

And if their decision is to become legally married as the Constitution allows, which party is more likely to support that? ;)

Are you trying to rachet p the heat on something that can't be rachetted up? I have no intention of getting "out of the kitchen."

You lberals are losing this discussion: did you miss the election of 2010?

Are you going to convince the conservative gays - a growing percentage - that they don't know their true interests? LOL good luck^_^

Firstly... How many times have you told you that i am a centrist? Get your facts straight this is getting old. Although being a conservative i see how using facts is difficult

Winning 31% of any demographic is hardly celebratory, in fact it is quite pathetic.

Oh, but they have. This thread is not the only one containing comments on conservative gays.
I only know this thread. Despite your repeating that it happened in this thread, it has not.

It's not a false statement, and liberals need to be goaded about their ridiculous stereotypical thinking. They don't just get to frame issues in their own terms unchallenged.
It certainly is false. In the second sentence in the OP you castigate liberals before they have even done anything. You opened this thread with fists swinging against liberals.

The thing is, that liberals generally don't marginalize gay conservatives any more than they do other conservatives, but conservatives do tend to marginalize even non-liberal gays.

Who would have thought that the US government would lock people up based on the color of their skin?
Yeah well, the last time that happened it wasn't exactly elderly white god-guns-and-glory conservatives who cried foul first. Anyway, I'm not sure I get your point. You think that gay conservatives support the Tea Party because they don't want liberals to hand over the country to the islamists?

;)

I see you have absolutely no understanding of the world other than your excruciatingly simple-minded liberal stereotypes. Yes, I have gay friends and family members who are very important to me, while your experince is what...shaking hands with a gay man once in a super market?

My experience is that liberals, while arrogant and self righteous, are extraordinarily limited in experience and thought processes.

Not that its any of your business but I shook a lot more than his hand.

My understanding of the gay community is an order of magnitude better than yours I'd wager.

I doubt the order of magnitude part, but it sounds like you've shaken more things than I.

It was the third highest ranking us president that did it

My point is that you should never say that it can't happen here.

Well perhaps, but at the very least I have a better perspective than you.

I have to agree.

When you say you understand the gay community better than I, I'm sure you're referring to not just gay specific issues, but the full range of human issues, including political. No one should ever be ridiculed for holding views other than what a larger society thninks it's appropriate for him to hold.
